2010 Seats in a 2005

I have a chance to get a good deal on some 2010 Laramie clothe, power seats. I already know that they will fit in my 2005 with only minor mods,

but what I REALLY want to know if the 2010 seats are any more COMFORTABLE then the 3rd gen seats I already have, or if the upgrade to more comfortable seats was made only in 2012.



Anyone who has driven both a 3rd gen and a 2010, or a 2010 and a 2012 have opinions for me??

YES they are if there the same as the 2012, and I think they are

I have 2 3rd gens and the 4th gen 1/2 ton. Just my personal opinion, but I think that our '04. 5 seats, which should be the same as your '05's, are better than our 2010 seats. The 2010 seats hurt my lower back after a few hundred miles.

I am beginning to think that while most people consider the later 4th gen seats more comfortable then those in a 3rd gen, that this opinion is obviously more subjective then I realized.

It's too bad that I can't just sit in the ones I want to buy, by they are in another state. Still, only $500 plus shipping, for excellent condition, non-smoker, clothe, power, front and back, 2010 seats that would be an exact fit for my 2005... if they ARE more comfortable, that is a darn good deal.

SOOOOOO... . just wanted to confirm that the 2010 and 2012 are the SAME seats, at least in terms of padding and bolstering. Wouldn't want to "upgrade" ti the 2010 seats, if it is the 2012 seats that are better!!!

If the 10's and 12's are the same then I think that they are much better that the ons in my 05.

Ok last question...
Do the 2010 leather and cloth seats differ only on the covering or in shape, padding and COMFORT as well??

The shape and padding are both different. I had to do the seat mod (adding 1 in of foam and backing to raise the seat center up off the side rails) on my o3 and 05 and have helped 2 others do the same mod. It helps a lot and you might want to try this before you spend money on new seats. With that being said, the new seats are much better.

OK, here is what you should do, go find a 2009 1500, or a 2010 25/3500, or 2011, there all the same, find one for sale, (cars.com) or just find one at a Walmart, ask the owner if you could sit in it, very simple, your seat comfort won't be addressed on the Internet

Funny you should say that, but I am going to go by a dealership tomorrow and sit in a 2012 leather and hopefully also a 2012 cloth interior and then try to decide what to do. Thatbeing said, the ONLY way I would approach anyone to sit in their truck at a Walmart is if the truck had a TDR badge on its grill, as they are the only ones who just might understand the request of a stranger to simply sit in their truck... lol
