I believe I have an issue with my steering box. Having slop to the immediate right and left of center, it kinda flops from one side to the other, real friggin annoyin.

I have newer ball joints, replaced all steering parts except box at 95k. Truck has 120k, and is loaded heavy all the time

Is there an adjustment on the 4th gen boxes like there was on the 2nd gens? I adjusted the preload on my old 96, and it remedied the same type of problem

Thanks

The steering boxes do have an adjustment, it may already be worn to much but cant hurt, a steering box brace really helps these boxes aswell.

Ive just loosened the jam nut and tightened the adjuster screw 1/2 turn at a time, rock the steering shaft with my hand, and repeat untill it feels decent, tighten jam nut, test drive, re adjust if necessary. Its easiest to pull the drivers side inner fender to access the steering box.
