I just picked up a 2010 2500 with 56,000 miles. Original purchase date was 11/2010 so i know it should have some existing drivetrain warranty coverage left on this truck. The small dealer i purchased from confirmed there was a warranty but had no way to prove it other than "yeah its got a warranty. " Does this warranty just transfer with the ownership or do i need to actually do something before i need to use it? The thing is bone stock so there should not be any issues there.

Thanks

CH

The way things have changed since my 07 C&C, its kinda a guess, but the warranty on the truck and drive train excluding the CTD is over and was at 36K miles. The CTD is 5/100 and I'm not aware of any requirements for transfer of ownership. The service dept. of your dealer should be able to tell you what the requirements are and what warranty is left, it may have a extended warranty, but I don't know if its transferable without the original owner transfering to you.

Is your dealer hiding something??the dealer enters the vin, they get a response that will show and can be printed out

No i don't think so, I picked it up from a very small mom and pop auto broker that is way behind the times. They had some great vehicles and a rated A+ from BBB but sure not using technology very well.

The local dodge dealer is 50 miles away and i will not be down that way for a week or so. Just wanting to be educated on the warranty before i head that way.

Ok You said dealer so I just thought it was a Dodge dealer. Give me the last 8 of your vin I can you what is remaining if any

Is there is an extended warranty on the VIN? The engine with the 5/100 and emissions, but every thing else would be over with the 3/36?

Basic is 3/36. the engine and powertrain 5/100 came with the truck. there is also a transferable service contract

Thats cool, when did Dodge change that? The engine and drive train is now included in the 5/100? I don't mean to ask the same questions, but wasn't it with the Engine only, with the 5/100, hell my truck just might still have warranty left. Is the DMF considered a wearable part like brakes and clutches?

Yea clutch not covered after 12/12

Bob,

I don't see any drivetrain/powertrain warranty for my '08. I took delivery in January '08 so the truck is a little over five years old. I guess there is still corrosion protection, not a concern in west TX, and maybe some emissions crap coverage.

The basic limited warranty is 3/36 and the engine is 5/100. I don't see any separate powertrain warranty except for the Aisin which was 3/180k. Powertrain was only covered under the 3/36 according to what I see.

Is there some warranty coverage I'm missing?

In my case it doesn't matter but I'm curious. I've never had any issues other than a dry rear U joint at about 75k which was repaired out of pocket by my mechanic friend.

With the last 8 I can tell you. I don't memorize that stuff any more- leaves more room for the good stuff

Thanks for the offer but the truck is a little more than five years old so there's no warranty coverage still in effect other than possibly corrosion issues which doesn't concern me.
