2011 Seat ?

I plan on replacing my 2005 in a year or 18 months. It's to early since they just came out, but I would like to know how the seats are comfort wise compared to the 3rd Generation trucks? Lets hope they fixed the issue with the bad seats, that was the biggest complaint I had, my problem is gone since I replaced the seats 2 years ago, but I don't plan on doing it again, I will follow the threads on seats, I hope the issue is far behind us, any comments from 2011 owners appreciated.

sorry:-laf. . the 2010 seats on the other hand i find are really comfortable. I have never owned a 3rd gen, only 2nd gens and i thought those seats wern't too bad.

We are going through the same thing. This is the crap that has put Dodge way behind the competition in terms of interior features and the main reason I bought the Ford (not that that worked out so well).

Great, if this is the case, my next truck will not be Dodge, or Ram as it's now called, I will follow the seat complaint posts then decide next year, I won't buy another vehicle with seats that require scrap carpet and foam to make the seat useable, there are other choices, and I suspect, time will tell if the others have corrected there engine problems, I would think there fine now

not to sound ignorrent but Why don't you just go to a dealer and take a test drive???, atleast that way you use your own personal preference to decide if the seats are up to your standards.

i added 2" foam in my 08 seat bottoms. made a big difference.

That's a good question. IMO it takes several hours of sitting in the seat before you really start feeling uncomfortable.

When I bought my 06, 2500 Ram, it was only on my first cross country trip that I found out how bad they were. One or two trips? No problem. After two or three long days in the seat it seemed to get progressively worse.

My current 98 seats are much, much better than the 06's.

That is the point to my question, like I said, it may be to early yet. When I looked to buy my 05 I drove one, it felt good, after I bought it it also felt good, after 3000 miles or so it started to not feel good. I did all the tricks, added foam, added a piece of carpet, that was better, but the seat design was just bad, so I removed the seats and added a custom set of after market seats, they are great, but expensive I might add. My point if this is still the same old seat with a slightly new shape, and the same problem appears, I will pass on the new Ram, if the seats are a problem the postings will start to surface in the near future, if no complaints I will buy one next year.

The thing about seats is that everyone's body has a different idea of what is comfortable. I don't really like the 3rd gen seats when compared to my 2nd gen either. But, changing seats out to a more comfortable seat would be far easier than dealing with a POS truck that has constant mechanical issues. I have aftermarket seats in my VW, cost a bunch more than factory seats would and are much more comfortable.

So I say, watch the forums about seats in the new trucks and see what happens, but realize that you may be better off changing seats than getting better factory seats wrapped in a crappy truck.

I put on 100K on my 06, and basically HATED the seat after about 2 hours driving.
The longest I've driven my 10 in one stretch is 9 hours, and so far, there is no comparison.
I'm leaving for Pahrump on Saturday - it will be a couple of 12 hour days to get the 1500 miles. By the time I get there, I think I will have a pretty good idea whether the new seats are going to cut the mustard.
But what if they don't?
Well, I'll just fix them until they are satisfactory. The truck so far, surpasses my beloved 06 by a wide margin. If I don't check the mileage, I'm not unhappy. Ignorance really can be bliss. (grin)

I just took a trip from NY to GA and towed my 31' race trailer... . here is my take on the seats. I have the Buckets with console. I find the seat backs very comfortable they contour to my bad and neck very well. The seat bottoms are nice but to firm for me after sitting in them for a while its like sitting on a pine bench... short trips i dont notice it. Hope that helps

Df5152, have 2010 ram 3500 drw crewcab like yourself, any problems with pass front seat vibrating with no one in it at any speed. Mine vibrates like crazy over a bump or smooth road, even at 5mph over a bump it'll shake, not like a tire balance problem. How's your's?.

No other vibrations, noises heard. Dealer trying balancing wheels but i really don't feel anything in the seat of my pants driving. Sucks! Real annoying.

i have had some issue with noise from the passenger seat side for me it has been the seat belt buckle banging between the seat and post after someone gets out and doesnt put it back correctly... .

as far as comfort personally I like the factory seats in my '06 although they don't look like it, they are more comfortable than the ones that came in my '02, IMO they do a good job of being comfortable but at the same time saving space so as not to eat into the backseat room.

my biggest complaint about the '06 and up seats is the cheap work truck looking canvas they are made out of. it also stains very easily. to me they just look cheap and I have always hated that.

Actually Dodge has called their full size truck 'Ram' for some 25 or 30 years.



I don't know about the seats on the 2010's, but the seats on my 2005 Laramie 'H' are very comfortable. My wife and I took an 11K mile round trip to Alaska almost four years ago, which meant we sat on the seats for many hours, and had no complaints. We also took the same trip to Alaska on my previous 1995 Dodge and found that the second gen seats were slightly better and perhaps the most comfortable seats I've ever had. The difference between the 95 and 05 is that the 05 has leather and tends to be slightly stiffer.



I have no issues with the 2nd and 3rd gen Dodge seats.



My next door neighbor however has a 2007 Furd King Ranch F350 and his leather seats are falling apart at the seems and are badly stained.

As I have said on here previously, I use the FootSmart memory foam seat cushion on my 07 SLT seats. Very comfortable for long trips and saves the original upholstery from dirt and stains.

I just got home from Pahrump this afternoon. Total mileage was 3713 miles. Although some of the driving days were pretty long, I had no seat comfort issues. I also carefully noted mileage and fuel at each stop, and compared calculated mileage to the "overhead" readout.
Overall mpg travelling mainly at 65 - 75 mph, was 16. 8 - 17. 5 mpg. The "overhead" readout was fairly consistent, at 104% of calculated mileage.
My new truck totally rocks - except for having to turn on the exhaust brake all the time. I would sure love a dealer update to cause the "normal" position to be "on".
