I know the 2007.5s through 2009s had some problems, but I never had emissions problems in the 2 years out of 9 that I ran emissions on my 2009 4500.

I had my 2010 3500 for 8 years towing my 5th wheel without a single emissions problem.

Had a 12 would take one if you gave it to me. The older per DEF way of meeting emissions was a joke. The truck spent half its running time in regen. Fuel Mpg really sucked. Now the 13 DEF truck I currently own has been huge step up. On the12 I was changing Oil every 3rd week and it was loaded with fuel. With the 13 I change oil twice a year. Sure I have to put DEF fluid in every now and then. Walmart has it for $7 a jug. Big deal. Not having to. Clean sensors and the EGR cooler along with being able to surpass 20 mpg ( when I behave) is worth every penny I spend on DEF. And from what I understand the truck built after 14 are even better having the recalls and updates done when the truck was built. Unlike my truck. Growing pains of owning the first of the new system.
Find yourself a DEF truck an be happy.

OP,

How long is this 12 up for sale? Just like anything, folks have good and bad experiences. If truck is STILL available AND you still have doubts, do a search here on the TDR and SEE how many problematic 12s folks complained about.

Another recommendation is Google 2012 Ram Cummins problems to see what the REST of the world says.

Cheers, Ron
