Posted info on Ford 6.7L cyl head TSB

ok, let me start by saying this isnt my truck, but another service tech where I work.

Truck has less than 30K miles, all service performed by Ford dealership since new. Truck blows a turbo, gets put on hook and taken to dealership. The dealership put a turbo on it, and while they had it in there, had them address some violent transmission shifting issues. Ended up pulling the transmission and rebuilding it completely! Fast forward about 5-7 days, while still at the dealership, Ford mechanic has it warmed up, idling, while topping off transmission fluid levels, BAM!. Engine seized up! Truck is currently in an all too familiar sight with the cab and fenders up on a lift, two techs and a cherry picker yanking the engine out and dropping in a new bullet!.

Thought it was funny since it happened to fail while still in the dealership service department.

Sounds like a mirror image of my F-350 with a 6. 7. Turbo went, then engine, then trans problems... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... then down the trade in road it went!

Wait a Min you mean the owner didn't get a chance to use the Tailgate heating and cooling system that Ford Install's in there truck's so the Owner's don't sue for frost Bite on the hand's or Burn's during the Summer:-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf Poor Ford never last's long enough to make it out of the drive way let alone up a Hill.

We really are inconvienced by break downs, but these days, nobody at work raises an eyebrow when one of the Fords lays down... its just a quick couple of phone calls to find out where the spare truck is, what wrecker we are using, letter the dealership know its coming etc...
And YES, we have had the brand new spare F550 break down while we already had two others in the shop. I read recently that what we had heard awhile back is true, Ford is going thru a major redesign of the 6. 7L engine including new connecting rods, new cylinder heads, new turbos, and a more robust fuel injection system. Bad part is, the C&C trucks are receiving 0 updates, the updates are for the pickup truck engines only!

I briefly read a link to a Car and Driver review of mfg quality and Ford came in near the bottom of the list with and the Ford C-Max the worst car in the review. Granted, they are mainly considering the automotive lines, but even the new Eco-Boost F150's are plagued with drivablity issues in the rain and damp conditions. Quality control isn't cutting it over there right now.

I can understand the logic. Once an operation gets involved in a big buy of, lets say 50 of these C&C's to build a run of welding trucks, the "customer" issue is way different than dealing with an individual and his $60k King Ranch SD. The individual will get priority and the commercial deal is dealt with differently, it's more political.

I drive by an oilfield service company that has about 20-25 brand new Ford cab/chassis trucks sitting in a parking lot, waiting their service bed installations, and driving by at 75 mph, I cannot spot any diesel badges in the lot. The ones I can verify are dual wheel and they are gasoline. Then, I drive by a natural gas compressor manufacturer that has hired independent welders with their own trucks sporting the welding machines and tools and the truck of choice is Dodge or Ram by a wide margin.

They brag about customer loyalty and how they keep coming back. (should really get it repaired enough for them to LEAVE so they can make that return trip. :) )

yeah, no doubt!. . Truck ended up with a new short block, rebuilt heads, twice overhauled transmission, new turbo.....
There is a reason Ford is going thru a MAJOR redesign for their 2015 6. 7L diesle engine.
