Last night on a dark gravel road my headlights went out. I manually switched them from auto to the on position and they thankfully came back on. I suspect the light sensor has gone bad and was wondering if anyone knows how to confirm this and how to replace the sensor. Thanks guys

Now the lights are working normally again. My son reminded me they went out exactly when I turned on the windshield wipers. Maybe it was some kind of software glitch that decided to turn the lights off with the wipers instead of the wipers on-lights on way it is set in the evic.

If this was the first time it happened since 2012, I doubt it is a SW glitch...sounds like a sensor approaching fail point or a deteriorating connection

A failing sensor was my first thought but because it happened at the exact moment I turned the wipers on it made me wonder if the problem was somehow connected to the wipers on-lights on relationship.A deteriorating connection is a possibility. Being wet outside, maybe water did get into a connection and cause the ecm to be confused. in any case, the problem was gone the next day and if it comes back I will pay close attention to the circumstances and hopefully pinpoint the problem.
