Bug out: since my buddies and I are full time truckers, including my father that's been truckin for over 30 years, we all prefer to shift gears ourselves. My dad had an automatic transport truck for 2 months last year while waiting for his new Kenworth to arrive, he does not like it and its not always easy to get out of the old ways. ;)

I started with an automatic 1997 dodge, but I gave the slush box the boot and in went a nv4500. No automatic can equal the reliability of this nv4500 transmission cost wise. I rebuilt it myself with the help of my brother in law and only $500 in parts. That was 5 years ago.

Yes I know the 47re is nothing like the aisin.

Sure the power is lower with the g56 but his 2009 has always ran a tuner so likely the 2013 will get one too.

Auto trucks are getting too pampered. We need to do something too. My right foot handles the throttle and braking duties but in an auto truck, what's my left foot gonna do? Also same with my hands, left hand on steering wheel and the right moving the shifter. ;)

Your right. Up until my 2012 max tow 3500, I was manual box guy myself. I guess what switched/forced me over was the change in hp and trq rating used to go to the 5-6 speed manuals but now to the autos. Plus now the tow ratings are in favor of the auto.

One way or the other, he he should like the 13 over the 09.
