2012 traction control issue

My neighbor has a 2012 3/4 ton crew cab with traction control and when I was talking with him yesterday he was cursing his traction control. Asked him what was up and he said that the warning light had come on "again" and as a result his cruise and etc are disabled. Turns out this is the 3rd or fourth time this has happened and each time the dealer "fixed it" until it happens again, this time they told him it was software. I told him I would check with TDR and have since looked through the forums and can't even get a hit on traction control. Somebody out there got any suggestions? I also might add that he is a farmer and the truck is subjected to considerable amount of mother earth in all its various forms.

I had the same issue with my 2012 2500. You'd be driving along and the Traction Controll warning light would come on and you loose the Cruise function. The dealer said it was a bad sensor or loose plug "fixed it under warrenty. About 1200 miles later on a rainy night on a long trip it comes back on again. This time I went under the truck, the sensor is located under the pass side door on the frame rail outboard side. I unplug it and re plug it a few times and all is good for a few weeks. Figuring that it was a bad or dirty connection I coated the contacts with die-electric grease and haven't had an issue in almost 7 months.
Wow that was long winded... . Think I need some sleep.
