It is my understanding that the 8.4a Nav is supposed to display text messages from iPhones without having to have a uConnect Access subscription. My iPhone is connected. I can make and receive calls. But when, per the instructions, I press the PHONE button, I do not get an option for text. I have an iphone 6 with the latest iOS.

What am I missing?

I thought that having Uconnect Access was the only way to have the text on the radio screen. The last update I loaded allowed me to access Siri by pressing and holding the voice command button (the one with the face on it) for a second or two and you'll get the Siri tone. I do the text through Siri, but it only shows up on the phone. The radio screen would be nice though if it works without a subscription.

Go to your Bluetooth setting on your iPhone. Click on Uconnect, under there you will see Show Notifications, turn that on. Know you will be able to read/listen to incoming text on the 8.4 radio.

Make sure your in park for texting. Wont do it in drive you can only listen to texts. Thats how my truck is

I know that sending texts with iPhone won't work. But I understood I could read/listen to them. I did as DArndal suggested. I'll try it and see if it works. Notifications was turned off.

Mine wont only listen when im driving. Ive had iphone and samsung in last month. I have the ra3 not 4 but im sure its the same deal. Ram doesnt want you reading texts while driving

All messages were displayed when i got in truck. Blue tooth obviously on put it in drive and message comes up cannot display while moving. Hope this helps

Press and hold the phone button for Siri. You can do listen through her. Make sure you have the latest firmware.
