Has anyone heard if the 2013/2014 will be injecting in the exhaust pipe or is it going to continue to do it during exhaust stroke to clean the DPF filter.

I personally would have kept the 'junk' on IF this was in the initial design of the emissions system...

I'm ok with the DPF thingy... However, I absolutely hate the idea of EGR and the fuel diluting problems associated with the 4th injection event!! #@$%!

If I've read the press releases correctly The DEF system does away with alot of the fuel dilution issues and allows the engine to be tuned for more efficiant running and less need for the EGR.

We will be updating this spring, if ram is still overfueling we will switch to a GM product. CJ oil has resulted in long life reduction, now we have to worry if overfueling the engine is causing problems. I like all the improvements RAM has done to the reported 2013's 3500, but will not get any truck that overfuels.

What I read the DEF will be injected into tail pipe(for NOX) . I believe for cleaning out the particle filter they will be still injecting fuel during the exhaust stroke. Although it would be nice if they injected it in to the down pipe or exhuast pipe

It, along with Ford and GMs offerings, all use EGR... The amount of EGR and where its introduced into the stream is what is different between Cummins and the other two...
The use of DEF greatly reduces the need for such heavy fuel dosing. . I have not been interested in the 6. 7L Cummins until they got onboard with the use of DEF... I agree with others, after they get a few 13 models out there being abused... if Im not seeing rampant failures, I will go for a test drive!.
