I am unable to pump diesel, except at an extremely slow speed. I can never get to the first "stop" on the pump handle so I don't have to continually hold the pump lever. I tried one of the big nozzles at a truc k stop - what a mess. I had no problems on my 04.5. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a trick?

Thanks, in advance, for your help and suggestions.

Do a search, there was a thread on this a month or so ago. For the life of me, I don't remember what folks found as the 'cure'.

Make sure you insert the nozzle past the 2nd flapper valve. Start really slow and increase flow slowly. Wait that really doesn't sound quite right we are talking about fueling....LOl. Any way that's the only way that I have been able to make it work. Fill that is. It's been a really long day...

I still can't run the high flow like I could on my 06. If I shove the nozzle in as far as it will go, regular pumps work fine and I can get the high flow nozzles to the 1st click, sometimes the second if I go slow enough.

If you look at the filler neck design, there is a larger diameter entry for about 6" which has the two flapper valves in it. It probably causes fuel turbulence, causing the nozzle to shut off. Since my short bed tank is only 31 gallons, and the Transfer Flow 75 gallon tank keeps it from getting too low, at least I don't have to deal with the slow flow for very long. Most of the fuel goes into the TF tank which will take a high flow rate.

I have that same problem as well every once in a while. Most places that I refuel at I'm able to use the first "stop" on the pump handle. I just make sure that the nozzle is down in the fill neck as far as I can get it.

When using the big nozzles I usually can only use the first notch. Not really a big deal but the issue I have is with the spiral metal ring around the big or small nozzle that seems to get caught on the second flap and I have to force the nozzle out. Never got stuck, but the second flap must be pretty tight.

Thanks for the input. I have already been inserting the pump as far as it will go. I may have to try different stations. This is a frustrating "feature" on a great truck. Thanks again.
