Dodge (Ram?) will be unveiling the 2013 2500 thru 5500 trucks at 10am on Thursday! The ramtrucks website has a countdown and claims that it will be big news.

Curious to see what they came up with.

Sitting on the edge of my seat wondering if they went with DEF... ..... ;)

Mike. :)

I was just talking with a salesman and the biggest change he knows is an interior upgrade. All digital gauges, a shift knob (similar to the 4WD in a 3rd gen) instead of a lever on the column. He was not told of DEF on the pickups. We also know how reliable salesman are on their information. Guess we will see tomorrow. I've been waiting.

Bets on the Long Haul? THAT would be big news. More HP/Tq, that would be big news. Better fuel economy, that would be big news. I can't see an interior upgrade and DEF being that big.

Since I am not upgrading anytime soon I am just hoping for some OEM 18's with a 3600 lb rating, I need some stronger wheels/tires for the 05.

Or the new twin turbo, double overhead cam 7. 7L that Daimler unveiled in Germany :-laf

Nick

If there is a diesel engine change, which I highly doubt, it would more likely be a Fiat/Iveco diesel. Who knows when the cost accountants win their argument...

Bill,

I understand completely where you're coming from and can only hope that (like the new Dodge Dart commercial) the Ram brand manager keeps throwing the beancounters out! :-laf Hopefully the Ram team understands that many of us (myself included) purchase the Cummins engine for its long-term proven performance and durability in real world towing situations, and it happens to come in a Ram truck (not that I have any complaints about that, either). I'm only saying that the Ram brand would be greatly diminished in my eyes if the Cummins disappeared from under its hood.

Mostly from spy pics and too much reading !! My guess is:

1) New 1500 interior, but keeping the column shifter
2) Heavier 6K'ish FGWR
3) Increased GVWR 13K'ish = more payload
4) DEF of course = 5% increase in mpg
5) Higher HP/TQ
6) New front Grill
7) Available LED lighting
8) HD Gasser 6. 4

I'm planning on a 2013 regardless, but I really need a higher DRW GVWR regardless of other changes.

I could be wrong, but I doubt that you will see any major changes in the 3500/4500/5500 C&C trucks. I look for the big news on the pickups being DEF, increased fuel mileage, and some sort of air/air assist rear suspension.

I am also hearing 2013 may be short model year with the redesigned 2014's coming in the fall. . YMMV and I claim no authenticity :)
