Yep, I read that too. The cab mounted camera will be great for loading my big slide-in truck camper too. Also, I've been waiting for the increased GVWR in order to not be over the truck's GVWR any more. 500-lbs higher GVWR is all I need and then I'll have a bit of reserve capacity for carrying the weenie dog. :D

Bill

I've been waiting too, and have been looking at the GM's because of their 5K+ payloads, well I'm glad I waited !!!!

With the newest CTD's at twice+ the HP & TQ of my 98, it will be nice hauling my heavy TC up/down the mountain hwy's of the Northeast.

No more packing light for me with my 11K GVWR !

Also says 8' bed with mega cab, and long hauler is a go for build. Wonder if either is a typo. I would trade for a long hauler.

Wow. I really like the long arm front end. The fuel filter on the frame. They keep making improvements. I really enjoy my 2011 HO truck. I would like to get a 2014. Sam

Of note to me if the article is correct is a cab mounted rear view camera to see when backing up to a 5th wheel/gooseneck. That along with other features makes me think I'll wait for a '13 instead of trying to find a '12 now.

That is what the inside rear view mirror is for

The 2013 Ram Heavy Duty will be available as a two-door Regular Cab, four-door Crew Cab, and four-door Mega Cab, with two bed sizes (6-foot 4-inch and 8-foot). - allpar.com

I'm betting that is misworded. Currently, two of those combinations are not offered: Regular Cab Short Bed and Mega Cab Long Bed.

As much as I want a long bed Mega, I doubt they are adding both of those styles.

It's probably misworded. A Mega/long bed would require a frame and wheelbase change which is why it has only been available as a Mega/short bed.

Since it has an all new frame, I have a hunch the Mega and 8' bed is a go.

Also a new capless fuel filler? Ford has that on some of their SUV's and dirt gets in the tank on off highway use... . The fuel door seals break down over time.

If they are going to have best in class GVW's, the 3500 might go as high as 13,500:eek: Thats getting close to class 4 trucks.

It's not just a new frame that has to be made. The driveshaft, brake lines, electrical connections, exhaust and various other bits and pieces that have to be lengthened as well. That's a lot of money in retooling for a frame that can only be used for one truck ie 2500/3500 Mega long box and the pool of potential consumers is relatively small. That's the reason that different body styles throughout the years have been built on the same chassis size. The reason the Long Hauler has the auxiliary tank where it is is that they were not going to develop a whole new chassis size to add a long bed on. They just picked the closest size and filled in the extra space with a diesel tank.
Don't get me wrong, I still wish they would make a factory Mega long box. I just can't see myself buying a new one then sending it to a conversion shop to be cut up and modified. I like my warranties too much.

I'll tell you what would be slick, a regular cab 2WD with a 6' bed. That would be some hot rod and would probably get pretty good mileage.

Seth keeps saying that very thing, he feels that they would sell well in certain areas of the country.

I, however, if purchasing one would not be able to resist blowing donuts in the middle of the road every time I left a parking lot..... Oo.

Mike. :)

Regular cab and two wheel drive is getting pretty rare, specially in newer trucks. Even the fleets are going to a lot of extracab or crewcabs

I would like opinions at some point to what items can be installed on earlier trucks. I wouldn't mind the new fuel filter, but the air intake might be too much to ask for, I'm sure there is some major software to go with it.
