I am ready to buy a truck but am having trouble understanding some of the options on Ram's website can any of you shead some light on the issue I am having.

I can't quite tell if two of the options that I consider musts for me and my needs are only available in the laramie or if they are available in the slt trucks also. Due to my work I find myself often using the fold flat floor in my current trucks and with having a one year old I always have a car seat in the truck which makes me also need the 60-40 rear seat so I can fold flat a protion of the back seat and not have to remove the car seat. I see these two options as standard in the Laramie package but I can't find them as an option on the SLT trucks. I don't know how accurate the build a truck portion of the RAM website is as everytime I try to build a Laramie truck like I want it forces me to choose Black as the Color so I don't know if the other options are right.

Thanks for any and all help.

To the best of my knowledge, the fold flat went away in the 4th gen. I had to build a removable platform for my 2010, I got very used to it and couldn't live with out it.

I'm not much help but here it is... . :D

I came very close to pulling the trigger on a '12 last year and went through the very same issues. What worked the best for me instead of the website was the printed RAM 2500/3500 sales material that the dealers have for customers to take home. Studied the matrix and the package / sales code and finally made sense of it. There will be something you don't want to get what you do want. If there is a package you can't figure out call the dealer and ask him what it consists of. There are also combos that are not in the printed stuff.

Also, do some lot walking. Look at the gassers as well and study the window stickers for options.

I can take my local dealer on in an option test and be right a lot of the time. I haven't been in for a while and I think that they miss me... ..... :-laf

Some of it was as I recall. I looked at a lot of various trucks before I got my head wrapped around it.

Also RAM will throw value packages together at times which are not published to combat something GM might be offering for example. You need a dealer contact for that, find a veteran sales person who is involved in actually ordering trucks that you can tolerate and get them in your loop. They learn from you as well if you show them that you are an informed and interested customer.

I laugh everytime a rookie salesman hooks on and thinks that I am a chrome shopper, takes about a minute to send them running.

Remember that we are NOT average customers and good dealers are interested in what we have to say. So is RAM.

Are you coming to Columbus?? You can get your question answered there or if it turns out that it can't be done with current options and there is a demand RAM marketing wants to know that.

If you are not going let me know and I will put you in contact with someone from marketing while I'm looking at them face to face in June. It is quite the sensation.

Mike thanks for all your help and knowledge. I really wanted to make the trip to Columbus, but life just wouldn't allow it I have prior commitments at that time. I have been struggling to find a knowledgeable salesman in this area. My favorite goober was the one the other day that while I was looking at a 2013 cab and chassis told me that It had the aisin trans and was the only truck Ram made with that trans.

I had a business card from a gentleman in marketing that I met in 2011. I'll see if I can find it.

If not, and you give me a bit of time I will go to my local dealer and get their assistance. I am trying to get cleared for driving and as soon as I do it would be my pleasure to take one for the team and hit the sales lot... . :D

Send me an e-mail, I have an idea.

The quadcab load floor should fit in the crew. I would look for a used load floor in a wrecking yard. Never know what you will find.

Most of the 1500 stuff will fit. That is if you can order the split bench. I have even put ford parts in my older trucks. Good Luck

Don't be surprised if you buy a 2013 2500 model only to find it does NOT have TOW mirrors..... I am currently livid about this as I never thought to ask when I bought it thru a broker. I am corresponding with Chrysler as we speak about this "oversight" they have had. As of two days ago, Larry Miller dodge in Surprise,az parts told me they do NOT have parts numbers for tow mirrors on 2500, but they do for 1500 or 3500 models. Something about "modules" being blown if they install 1500 or 3500 mirrors on the 2500... ... Mind you, your looking at a 2013 RAM with "strap on mirrors"... . Oh boy. . You can bet how PROUD I'll be pulling into a RV park... .

RAM mirrors for a 1500 or 3500 are $520 ea... Of course you can buy aftermarket CIPA's for $700... . But after buying a $50,000 so called tow "king of the pack" only to have to strap on mirrors... .

They don't flip up like the 3rd gen mirrors for towing? It is hard to tell but they look like the third gen mirrors that flip-up for towing in the picture.

Take my word for it, I damn near ripped them off the side of the door trying to get them to pop up like my last 2 sets of flip up tow mirrors Dodge ram has used. my 2012 dually AND 2005 DUALLY both had the flip ups . . This one does not. . I just went and RE checked if maybe they were slide outs. . Nope. Not only that, the parts guy said they dont have them on 2500 for 2013...

That's messed up! Why would they even consider a truck, any truck, without a tow mirror?

AMink, I am currently in corresponding with Chrysler corp. I am hopeful they come up with a solution. If they don't, I'll post my letters and their correspondence here and elsewhere so other folks are aware. I have my fingers crossed they do the right thing.

New marketing rep from Fiat never towed anything in his life? Who has the 2500 Brand segment trim options.

I have seen this before at Cat and GM. I worked with an engineer at Cat who spent three years at GM, His only responsibility was the LF spindle and brake rotor on the Pontiac cars under test.

I'm hoping this is simple as that. Hopefully they will rectify the situation appropriately. Fingers crossed. .

You tell me... . Ford and Chevy both offer and have as standard eqp tow mirrors on P/U's that are made for towing... . If you truck had a class 5 hitch, built in brake control and exhaust brake, what would make one think it did not come with tow mirrors??? It MSRP'd at $51,000 after blah blah.

I wonder if corporate Ram is trying to discourage towing with a Ram 2500 or this was just a case of overlooking checking the block for tow mirrors when the truck order was prepared at the dealership. My guess is it was the the order form.
