The problem goes back to the op buying from a broker. If you have specific needs on a truck the broker should be able to find the truck equipped with what you need

I can agree with that Bob, but the trailer hitch comes as standard equipment, but the trailer mirrors are optional?, it makes no sense to me at all

I got this info from www.ramtrucks.com

SLT 3500 has power heated t-tow mirrors with lamps. Even the base Tradesman model has them.

60/40 rear seat and fold flat load floor are on Big Horn and higher levels.

I have configured 2013 2500s and 3500s on that site and have no trouble picking colors. However, some browsers don't work with the site. In my case, MSN wouldn't work but Firefox works fine.

Ok, after reading Joe's post during a sleepless spell at 2. 00am I think that I have my head wrapped around it. I myself had not played with the Ram site and now wish that I had a couple of days ago.

Let me see if I can help you all master the thing...

Bug Out,

I proved my theory. In a 2500 the tow mirrors are an option above and beyond the standard tow equipment.

Chrysler responded. For all intents and purposes, I can blow smoke up a ducks butt. I acknowledge its my fault and should have endured another trip into a showroom to do battle, but after nearly wanting to toss the finance guys desk on him at Avondale Dodge in June of 2012 when I bought the 3500 Max tow ST, I foolishly went the AAA car broker route. Thats what I get. Anyhow, if you see a $51,000 2500 4X4 RAM SLT 4 door rolling down the road with "strap on" mirrors flapping in the wind, thats me with my new RAM truck... . LOL Here's their reply. Mind you I explained to them that I have bought approx. $200,000 worth of Dodge ram trucks since 1999, and all had tow mirrors etc and were properly equipped. I never had to specify "tow mirrors" before. . Oh well. Here goes:

Dear Edward:

Thank you for contacting the Ram Customer Assistance Center.

According to information available there is no Mopar Trailer Tow Mirror

accessory kit available for this vehicle and there has been no mention

of plans to produce one at this time. In addition, Chrysler does not

recommend modifying or altering any vehicle from the original

manufacturer's specifications.

We do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Thanks again for your email.

Sincerely,

Christopher

After all the wondering, I went to the local Dodge parts(same dealer truck was bought from) counter and asked the parts guy for mirrors for the 2013 RAM 2500. He point blank told me as of 1-1/2 weeks ago they dont have a part number as RAM has the tow mirrors on the 1500 and 3500 but not 2500. He went on to explain on the trucks they have installed them on, it was blowing some "module" inside the door.

I have contacted RAM via mail and E-mail. They responded within 2 hours after the first e-mail and wanted to know what was going on>? I sent them a 2 page letter, very nice ,not profanity laced and they have not returned a response. That tells me one of two things: They are as dumbfounded by this as I, or they are telling me in a roundabout way to pee up a Ducks gazoo. I will give them one more week and ask again to see whats going on. Hopefully they will have a response that is helpful and does not send me to the aftermarket for another $750. 00

Mike, thats probably where I went wrong. I have been a 3500 guy since day one. Oh well. 51K and another 1k for mirrors??? Endoscopy here we come..... Maybe I should call it a "Chrysler-scopy" . My bad. This will never happen again. As i told them with my reply to the above, never again will I purchase another. :)

CBari,

You CAN get the fold flat floor in an SLT. You have to choose the "Cloth 40/20/40 Premium Bench Seat".

This option... .

ScreenHunter_16 May. 14 08.07.jpg

Contains the fold flat floor. . and the 60/40 rear seat.

40.20.40 Package Contents.jpg

For information on each option hit the "!" within that block. .

For God's sake verify this before you order the truck, I'd prefer no one had to drive to Maine to beat me up for bad info on a $50,000. 00 unit.

But this option gives you the fold flat floor in an SLT. Going to call my dealer and tell him.

I just called the dealer and had him verify this by opening that seat package in the truck order screen and it is true. He missed that Saturday.

If anyone in marketing is monitoring this thread my suggestion would be to have the contents of an option open up when it is rolled over rather than having to hit the exclamation point. Might be a help.

Mike.

When I ordered the '08 I have now, it being the third Dodge Ram dually I had ordered and purchased from the same dealer, my salesman allowed me to sit down in front of their dealership order computer connected with Chrysler and submit the order for my own truck. Being personally involved with the order and seeing the actual acknowledgement {formerly called "dora" (dealer order receipt acknowledgement)} is the only certain way to know what you ordered and will receive when the truck rolls off the transporter.

I've never met a truck salesman or sales manager who knew as much as I did about their products but I've always been a brochure junkie, way before manufacturers offered websites with online brochures and interactive ordering systems. My wife has always grimaced and groaned when she's seen me come home with a stack of brochures knowing it would mean $$$$ before I was finished.

Thanks you all for your research on this. I had been using the MS explorer browser and after your suggestion changed to google chrome and have had much better success. Now when I get back from Ashville NC next week I will have to get the check book out. This little lady will be one on Monday and she said she wanted a new truck for her birthday.

Edward, Looks like it might be time to go Old School and mount a set of flip and fold Towing mirrors that was on the 1st gen trucks. . LOL. . heck, it might even be able to reach further out than the black folder kind.

Mwilson, maybe I can have the flat floor installed, so when I bend over and have the mirrors installed, I'll have something to grasp. . LOL

EricBu12, You took the thought out of my mind. I was actually thinking about a pair of 3rd or 4th gens. While I use the "strap ons" I'm going to peek around and see what options I have. .

I just looked at StarParts for a 2013 DJ 2500 and it lists tow mirrors (GPG for black, GPC for chrome) right, 68142668AD, left 68142669AD. I can't say they will work, but whoever said they were not available on 2500 appears to be mistaken. I also looked at the code guides for 2500 and 3500, 2500 shows optional on your truck, standard on 3500 SLT.

sag2, the parts guy here at Larry Miller Dodge in Surprise,az... . They are either full of BS or they are completely incompetent. . I'll call them today and ask if they can check these parts numbers. just to ad salt to the wound, I looked up F-250's and they(manual ext tow mirrors) come with the XLT 250 model standard when equipped like mine.

www.ramtrucks.com doesn't work worth a darn with either IE Explorer or Firefox. I tried to build a top of the line 1 ton dually with the 4:10 and it just won't take. The old site for the 2012s worked ok but the 2013 site is a piece of junk. I qualify for the "Partner" discount so I was going to see what the loss would be to upgrade from my '12. Oh well... the ONLY thing I don't care for is the black on black of my current truck. It's HOT in Bakersfield!

On firefox Just quickly go through the 1st options (Drop down box) then click finish, as the menu option window appears select what options you want to change (Edit).

I just built a 3500 w/DRW with the Aisin in a 4. 10 ratio. I'm on IE8.

Where is it fighting you???

Mike.

Ok, I downgraded to the Laramie and it seems to have taken but it still isn't right. I've had no luck trying to get through the Laramie Longhorn.
