Axle shaft universal joint was the first thing I thought of hearing your first video but thought nah....it cant be THAT bad.

I'm sure you have already drawn the same conclusion but that should definitely not be driven until fixed!

So the truck isn't drivable until I get those joints replaced? I'm hoping I can take it up the road to get replacement parts at least?

I certainly would not drive it anywhere off your property....

Your truck, your call. It may make it. If it doesn't and that universal comes apart it's gonna take ALOT of collateral damage with it not to mention leave you on the side of the road in need of a tow. The risks just aren't worth it pard.

I have little to no experience buying used from a dealer. But if you literally just got this truck and the noise was present it seems as though there could be a case for selling an unsafe vehicle. If they're the least bit concerned about their reputation you might have a leg to stand on in terms of getting it repaired on their dime. Or maybe at least part of it. That's not right selling a 4 year old truck in that condition - again assuming it was bought with the problem.

I really do hope you get things sorted out.

I did mention the sound and I wasn't able to replicate it to him but heard it several times. I think his assumption was because it was a diesel

Used As-Is from dealer. I'm in Texas.

Some dealers have a 12 month warranty because they are supposed to check the condition of what they sell used. Ask the dealer first before doing anything..... Just to be sure you are not already covered?

. Used Car Rule

If your dealership sells more than five used vehicles in a 12-month period, you’re on the hook for complying with the FTC’s Used Car Rule. The Used Car Rule applies in every state except Maine and Wisconsin.

I texted my sales guy the problem and he replied back with a link for a local repair shop... lol

Here's the buyers guide.

I'm in the process of replacing the U joints, and I'm almost done with the 2nd one and I completely forgot to check ahead of time what the torque specs were on all the front end suspension components. I'm using voice to text because my hands are covered in grease, so if anyone happens to have those torque specs available, I would greatly appreciate it to be posted here . Thank you for everything so far, it's been very helpful and a very warm welcome to the forum :)
