Hi Ronny, welcome to the forum.
As one almost newbie to another, I can't help with much the 'pinging' noise sorry. But a tip on forum etiquette: Each discussion 'thread' is supposed (supposed!!) to stay roughly on the topic started off by the original poster (aka "OP" in forum speak). Doing otherwise is called "hijacking" the thread. To start a new topic, it's a good idea to go back to the forum page and click on the "post new thread" button. Then you can give it a title (or even a helpful title, which is much less common!) and post away. That way the answers to your question won't be interwoven with the DEF discussion of this thread.
On the 'pinging' my '14 3500 does it a bit too, and I had assumed it was just what remains of the good ol' diesel clatter from days of yore, in these (fantastic, amazing, oh-so-powerful) high pressure common rail piezo injected computer controlled power plants. So I await answers to your question with interest.
Enjoy the truck. Got 6000km on mine now after driving it across Oz, and loving it.
