Not to hijack this informative thread, but I was wondering if you still have the stock DMF and clutch in your truck? If not, what do you have and do you tow heavy. I just got my '16 3500 G56 2 months ago and will be towing 18K or so with it in the future. Thanks.

Also, what are you using for transmission lube?

My 2013 is only rated to tow 16,300 lbs. But your 2016 might be rated higher.

Had the fluid in the differential changed this morning to the tune of $125.00. Everything did look really good. Lets hope it was worth it. If it doesn't change the shudder, we'll just add the friction modifier we used to put in our 96 Dodge. Will keep you posted as we'll be towing again on Monday. Thank you for all the help. It is always appreciated. Hugs, Di

Posted on this topic in Cummins Forum. Have a 15 3500. Dually aisin with 3.42 axle. Started chattering at 5000 miles and got worse as the fluid heated up. It was very noticeable on slow turns and turns from a stop. Dumped the fluid at 8811 miles and it looked bad. Real bad. Sent it to blackstone and they said it was ok but had high levels of sodium. Anyway, i added two quarts of valvoline 75w 140 and two quarts of amsoil severe gear 75w 90. I had the amsoil so just wanted to thicken it up a bit. Since i swapped fluid i have had no more chatter and plan to swap the fluid again at 15,000 miles and add a friction modifier. #ad

We have taken 3 fairly short {189 miles total} trips to several RV parks since our fluid change. We have had no shudder. Next weekend, we will be towing for about 400 miles but Dutch
feels we should have no shudder issues. He's still keeping his bottle of friction modifier close at hand, just in case

Thanks again to everyone. Hugs, Di
