2016 1500 fueling problem

My sister-in-law has a 2016 1500 that won't accept fuel any faster than a trickle and it takes forever to get it full. Everything I find online and at the dealer says that there is a valve inside the tank has gone bad and that the only fix is to replace the tank.
Are there any fixes for this problem, short of replacing the tank?

You can knock the ball out but you lose the rollover protection that keeps fuel from spilling out. Replacing the tank is the only viable option.

Almost sounds like the ball no longer floats. Is it possible to knock the ball out, drain it, seal the hole/leak and put it back in?

A folded/kinked breather hose would have the same effect, check this first before tearing all appart.
