I got this message today as I was driving. I have a 2016 RAM 2500 with the 6.7
cummins. I was very surprised to see this since I have owned the vehicle only 1 month and it has 1,250 miles total. I drove around for about 5 minutes after this message first appeared. The warning went from 100% to 90% to 80% and finally to 70%. Shortly after it hit 70% I got a message saying the process was complete. Does anyone have any idea why this could have happened?? More importantly, should I take the truck in to the dealer to be looked at/serviced??:confused:

I am going to guess you dont drive much or just a lot of short erands,The new trucks will regen at IRRC 24hrs of drive time if other parameters are not met first

Yes. I drive it around town a lot. And about 1 or 2 long trips a month. Is that normal for my activity? Is it anything to be concerned about or that needs to be looked at by the dealership?

You know, in 27k miles, I have never seen a message about regen. I know it only by smell, or watching my Edge CTS 2.

If it had a problem it would not complete (or get very far) in the regen process, and set a CEL as well. Drive it to warm it up vs. idling, and avoid the short trips that do not allow it to get to operating temps if you don't want to see the message. Otherwise it will do what it needs to in order to keep the DPF clean.

Thanks for the input guys. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't an issue that required me to take it into the dealership service dept to get looked at. Sounds like it's not. I'll try to use my car more for the very short trips

First time I saw that same message on my '14 was a month ago at about 45k. A week later, I got a CEL, and the next day (47,500k) I got the 100% message again, only it never came off 100%. After about 150 miles travel the same day, I dropped it off at the dealer. Next day they told me the SRC canister was full of carbon on one message, and full of ash on the other, and had to be replaced. That part is on national back order, I waited ten days and they finally got a replacement SRC canister. About $2500 without warranty, so I walked right into the showroom, traded the '14, and ordered the exact same truck, except in a '17 with air suspension. My reg. warranty on the '14 is over in Dec, and I'm not going to own one without warranty anymore. Too many high $ parts to own one without warranty.

I have owned my 2013 2500 for 18 months (purchased with 22,000 miles on it). I have put about 28,000 miles on it, 11,000 of those towing either 6500# or 9100# and I have never seen that message.

Working them will help to keep them operating just fine. short trips kill them. They not grocery geters.

I have a 2014 with 71,000 miles and drive on the highway almost every time I take it out. The first 65,000 miles I never had the error then my cat converter failed and had to be replaced, failed again the following week and was replaced a second time. I then starting getting the Exhaust System Regeneration and had it 3 times in less than a week. Took the truck in for the 67,500 mile service and after 3 weeks it showed up again. Keeping track and will complain to the dealer again. I think they figured the last service should fix the issue. Just for reference almost daily I will drive at highway speeds for 45 minutes, sometimes 2-3 hours, sometimes up to 6-8 hours.

Are you using the correct oil? Does using the wrong oil void the emissions part of your warranty?
Just curious about both.

Does anyone think it's worth it for me to take it in to the dealership service dept to be looked at? I do have an extended warranty on my truck. Like I said, the message came on at about 1300 miles. It stayed on from 100% to 70% as I was driving then it said "process complete" and went away just after it hit 70%. Also, no other "check engine" or any other warning lights came on. I do make quite a few short trips with it in the city.

Doesn't sound like you have a problem. It did an active regen.

I sure hope I don't see that message any time soon. I'm at the breaking point where I'll just get rid of everything related to RV'ing, towing etc,buy a Prius and call it good.
