In for my last free oil change and Manny, my service rep says that 2016 is the last year for a Ram Cummims.

He doesn't know what Ram plans to do with their diesel market. But seems to think a FIAT, Scania, or Detroit agreement might be possible.
He says Toyota has outbid Ram for the Cummins. Let's see how this pans out
He says Toyota will be offering their first dually.

Rumors like this have been going on for the 14 years I've owned a Cummins truck. It's more of a boy who cried wolf situation now. If it does ever happen, people are going to say "I told ya so".

With all this being said, I do believe Fiat's influence on decisions is significant. I'm surprised the 1500 Ram doesn't have a Cummins, and also surprised they "let" the new Nissan get a Cummins. So where before I didn't think there was a chance in hell "Dodge" would think of a world without Cummins in their trucks, I don't think the thought is necessarily off the table.

Interesting topic and very possible that Ram might switch to Fiat as they have a 6.7 road ready Diesel and have been using it world wide for some years. I'm not sure how this would affect Ram sales in the USA, but I for one will follow Cummins whereever it goes or stays except Nissan!!

I knew it was only a matter of time before Forum B's garbage leaked on to Forum A

Just think how much more used Ram/Cummin$ truck$ will be worth! $noking

I know right. 3rd gen owners already think there trucks are worth more than they paid new. But then again, I've seen high priced 3rd gen's sit for over 6 months now and still haven't sold.

There are nice Dozers on the market, they also perform very well Offroad. Oo.

Cummins simply did not have the power plant for the 1500. the 5.0 is just to big, I will state the 3.0 mileage is phenomenal, has great power. Only time and mileage will tell if it stays together.

I doubt any change will occur before 2018 with the Cummins 6.7, 2013 6.7 version has over 2 years of public use and seems to be doing well, only a fool would change thee trend now.Heeheee

If you visit the 1500diesel forum you will read comment by 1st time owners, I like the oil comments, they pay $10.00+ QT for the pen/mopar oil because Ram say so to meet the factory specs, they are worry about plugging the scr, heck the engine has to use oil before it will plug the scr, if My new engine uses oil its gone within 5K. O I will be running S900 Schaeffer's in My ED screw Ram cert.

Always wondered about that limitation on the oil. I accidentally bought a case of 20w/50 before I knew it had friction reducers that void the warrantee.
Haven't been able to give it away because most cars use 5w/20.

I don't think these SCR systems are designed for 300,000-500,000 miles like the cummins are. So after my warranty is up, I'll probably use it. I don't think one case will plug it up. Since it uses 12 qts of oil, thats 3/4 of the case in one oil change.

Less than 2 years of owning my 2013 and it's into the dealership because as I was towing a travel trailer yesterday,
I got the (See Dealer to Service DEF) Evic message. It's been run on Penzoil the whole time because if those 4 free oil changes I got.

That Penzoil is some magical stuff. Lol

Are saying it's physically too big? 'cause the engine compartments between the 1500 and 2500 should be the same size. The v8 should also be shorter than the inline6 in the HD trucks, though wider.

Can't believe there is such a rumor about the oil? That's just a simple plain low ash oil that's specified for Diesels with Cat & Agr, absolutely nothing special about it.
We can buy that in every super market for 5$ a Liter.
It is either hard to find an old fashioned plain oil.
