I couldn't care any less what a truck looks like , I want functionally, Durability, comfort ,ease of working on , Ride and power. and of course $ Cost. When I start to look it something on platform of what it looks like it cost Me Double in everything else.

I think I will keep my copperhead pearl 2013. Too bad the marketing weenies are in control of advertised HP. In the 1990s the chassis dyno got the same numbers as the advertised HP. Now a 385 HP is really a lame 326-327 HP on the Dynojet. Along with the HPCR in 2003 came the lies about HP, when 305 HP really meant 280.

Does that explain why the powerjoke is the first to the top of the mountain? SNOKING

I'm going to wish I had the ability to swap the cameras on the big screen on my truck. Having the backup camera in the rearview mirror since I have the cargo camera option kinda sucks. Also sucks I couldn't get rain sensing wipers and auto high beams in '15. I have those on my Durango and like particularly the wipers. Yes, I can turn the wipers on/off, but I like how it varies them based on how much water is on the window. As for the auto high beams, I wish I had these (as I do on my Durango and previous SRT8 Jeep) because I plan on putting a LED light bar and hook it up to the highbeam switch. If I don't get it turned off in time, the truck will do it for me, which would be nice when running a highly illegal lightbar on the street.

Aren't the advertised HP ratings listed as flywheel HP and not rear wheel HP? 305 HP at the flywheel and 280 HP at the rear wheels is probably about right after powertrain losses.

1. Brake Horse Power (bhp)

This is the power output of any engine measured at the engine's flywheel. (A flywheel is a disc with teeth on it. It's connected to the rear of the engine and its purpose is for the smooth transfer of power to the transmission from the engine.)

2. Wheel Horse Power

Unlike bhp, whp is the power output measured at the wheels. This is the information a dyno run provides and usually reads around *15 per cent less than the power measured at the engine (bhp) - this is because power is lost in the driveline (including clutch and transmission).

*Four-wheel drive cars lose between 20-25 percent of their quoted bhp figure because of the increased friction.

I always figured the HP rating of pre '03 Dodge Cummins trucks was sae net v/s gross now days.

Nick

IIRC, the advertised gross HP ratings are computed in a test lab and the engine is never run in that configuration in a vehicle. In order to make it a more realistic rating SAE (or maybe it was the EPA) now requires net HP ratings. I think it still rated at the flywheel without any parasitic losses by engine powered accessories i.e. power steering pump, alternator, air conditioner compressor, etc. However, I don't remember the date that requirement became effective.

I hit 305 on the dyno at MayMadness 2012 with my 11 350HP/800TQ Dually. So with 35 more hp they are only adding 21-22 HP on the dyno.

My 11 was proof RAM puts down a higher percentage than the Ford. My numbers compared to the BD's Ford I had only 13% loss of advertised and the Ford had 20% loss.

Advertised engine ratings are an average of multiple engines run on an engine dyno at sea level in optimal conditions with TQ management and all the safeties turned off. Hardly representative of "as-installed" in any platform. Average is about 12% actual drive train loss when you overide all the TQ management and safeties.
