Hey folks - 2017 3500, Doing a fan clutch change, what is the best easiest way to remove the fan shroud to access the fan clutch? Trying not to damage the fins on the radiator. Any advice, tips, or tricks from anyone that has done it before? THANKS!!

Why not just bite the bullet and purchase both the service and wiring manual! You'll find it very useful for a lot of issues. You'll have DTC info, all the specs and wiring color keys. If you plan on keeping the truck, it's a great tool for the tool box! Plus you'll get your moneies worth while owning let alone if you sell. JM2C. Not sure how similar my 2014 is to the 2017 for shroud removal. Might be able to give you some guidance.

this what the book says
1 remove dipstick and top engine cover
2 remove fasteners and upper radiator shroud
3 disconnect viscous fan wire harness
4remove push pin connecter of fan wire harness from support bracket
5 remove driver side fan shroud nut
6 remove passenger side shroud nut
7 remove 2 bottom shroud nuts
remove fan assembly from shaft with 48mm fan wrench. threads are normal right hand. loosen with counter clockwise looking at the fan
definatly a manual is in your best interest if you plan to do any more repairs

Got the job done, appreciate the replies. As I said before, I would REALLY like to get the service manuals for my year truck, but cannot find them anywhere. been looking a while. the reason I asked about best way to remove the shroud is that there are a lot of pretty smart folks out there that figure better ways to do things that work, and get the job done.

As an addendum, there are NO print versions available. Digital only for the real stuff.
Haynes has a printed version of their own stuff.
