Son was told my fellow that works with him that he can take his truck to dealer and they can program exhaust to stay on all the time. Punch exhaust brake switch and it will
turn off punch it again and it will come back on. I told him this don't sound right to me but I could be wrong. With all the epa crap and procedures they have to follow it don't sound correct to me. Anybody know anything about this?

The exhaust brake on my 2010 kicks out around 45 mph his 2017 will drop down to 35 mph fore it turns off. I run with my exhaust brake on all the time on the 2010 and he runs with his exhaust brake on and in tow haul mode all the time. I only use TH mode when pulling trailer guess I will have to run with it in TH and compare them. Much improvement on the 2017 over my 2010. Hmmm he got me to thinking  Do I keep my 2010 or get me on of them newer ones. I am getting older and you only go around once. :D

Maybe with TH mode on, your EB will work down to 35 mph? Mine works down to about 6-8 mph.

Pickups cannot be programmed to keep th EB on. Even by the dealer. The option isn't in the ECM. They must be turned on each time the truck is started, most likely for imagined safety reasons. Cab and chassis trucks the EB will stay on because they are considered commercial vehicles. In t/h the torque converter stays locked down to a slower speed. That's why his works as he states. Without the tow/ haul on it will be approx like yours.

not entirely correct, there is a way to make them remember the last setting they were used. and resume to that. but i don't know where i read that at.
mine stays on to 5mph. but i'm a g56.

The EB will stay on for a restart if you leave a trailer plugged in to the 7 pin. I think someone on the Cummins forum dummied up a male plug end with a resistor and leaves it in the 7 pin so the truck thinks a trailer is plugged in. I also remember that it only works on a 2015 or later but not sure about that.....

You forgot :--). Dam you must be old as  Got me first one in 91 too. And it was auto and everyone since. My son had the 5sp in his a 99 but the new one is a auto. I figured there was not anything that they could do to make it stay on all the time. To much liasssabity with all the dumb ***'s you got on the roads now days. Son said his new work truck a ford does not have exhaust brake just tow haul on it and he got it last year.

Here is a video showing exhaust brake results. Apparently, Powerstroke had minimal exhaust braking programmed in, and finally got an EB switch in 2015.

No EB switch in the ford until 2015 or possibly later?

My EB is engaged to 1100-1200 rpm, regardless of what the speed is....and obviously, the given speed at that rpm is dependent on the gear I'm in.
