2018 2500 led tailight bulb replacement

comrades! as a 50 year old car enthusiast, i sometimes try to improve things on my vehicles. in the last issue of TDR , i read a article which gave me ideas of LED improvements. i had a tail bulb out anyways, so i replaced with led bulbs. this has caused a few minor issues with my truck. taillight out messages occur when its below 30 degrees. the led bulbs function properly, however. the flasher blinks 2x as fast. my auto up and down window function stopped. and i get a 4wheel drive shift in progress randomly. i assure you im not pulling the lever for 4wd. i changed back to regular bulbs. all issues gone. so, my .02 cents is stick with the traditional bulbs. i have a set of LED headlamps too, but am hesitant to install them due to the above scenario. anyways, just wanted to pass along my waste of time and money attempt to improve my ride. cheers! happy 2020

My 18 does the random 4wd shift in progress too. Couple times a year.

LEDs you either need to enable the sales code or use resisters to get the light out messages to stop and to get a normal speed turn flash. The LEDs had nothing to do with the 4wd shift issue.

Yeah dont get too down on your self just need a little resistor to balance the circuit. Sounds like a fun project.

Look up LED resistor.

They can get hot, you can watch some videos of them on YouTube.

The LED bulbs have mixed reviews anyway so they are a love hate thing.

Get AlfaOBD and tell the truck you have LED's. It will shutoff the PWM to the bulb and disable the lamp out light... and likely all other issues from a lack of resistance.

I've been running Amazon led headlights for 7 years now and love them. I also swapped my fog lights to led spot and fog pods that come on with the headlights.

All lights are angled down to avoid on coming road glare to other drivers. Haven't had any issues and they run strong. Biggest complaint is having to pull grill and headlights to change the bulbs. Lol

thanks for the input comrades. i think ill just keep the candles for lights. went down the worm hole on youtube about the alfa obd....seems the 2018's are still a pain in the rear to change the parameters in the body control module. additionally, on another forum, the thread on the alfa obd is roughly 980 pages.... sure seems like a great tool for around 100 bucks. cheers!

The 18's work the same as the previous trucks once you have a security bypass module, which is a 2 minute install.

There is a rear LED option from the factory so it's a simple change for the BCM.

Yeah, my 2015 Laramie has LED tail lights. Which is a completely different tail light assembly, not just a LED bulb.
