My 2018 Ram 8.4 Uconnect kick out my phone the other day after I stopped and got fuel..I had to re-pair my phone to the truck but when I did, I no longer had android auto working..It never came back up..its on my phone but wont translate to the Uconnect..I thought it was my phone so when I got home I got in my
Murrano and the android auto worked fine..so now i know it in the truck. Has anyone else had this issues and what might the solution be..this isnt the first time the 8.4 caused me issues.
 
Try performing 8.4NAV reboot, then try repairing the phone. I have to do mine every now and then.... whether you have U Connect active or not, the system still does over the air updates that don't force auto reboots or even let you know you've had an update.

With truck running or on run, you an reboot by pressing volume and menu/tune buttons at same time. I believe you can drill down in the menu and do it too.

Pls report results.

What all does the 8.4 reboot do? Does it erase any settings?
Doing a soft reset did not erase my configuration.... U-Connect rep advised me to do the soft reset when I was having issue with audio system source selection and vehicle locator.

A hard reset might restore to factory default, but I haven't done a hard reset. I would read owners manual first.

:mad:So a little help..pushing the volume and tune button at the same time did nothing for my radio..also holding the temp hot and cold together did nothing either..i did see where i could do a factory reset in the settings menu and I did that but it did not fix my android auto..I took the usb cable from the truck and my phone to my Murano and android auto came right up.. at this point, I know its in my radio and i guess ima need to take it to the dealer. I think the radio is going to need to be replaced and of course it out of warranty.:mad:

Sorry to hear it brother! My biggest apprehension about upgrading from my 09 4500 SLT with just AM/FM/Aux input/CD was getting the 8.4NAV. If mine craps out after warranty, I'm going to buy a factory one from third party seller.

One idea, check to see if dealer will discount it. When the one on our form Cadillac went T.U., I asked them and they charged us $900 on $2,200 unit. They're all crap.

Thanks for the words of encouragement..its got to go for a trans service next week and I'll see what they say..I spend alot if money at that dealership so we'll see..also. my mechanic will check and see if there is a tsb about this issue..u never know..
 
I have never bought an extended warranty in my life, but I am considering it for my '19. Besides the "new ideas" implemented with the CGI Cummins, threads like this make me worry about the 12" Etch-A-Sketch in the dashboard.
 
MY mechanic told me the first 12" on the 1500 were terrible..he said they were asking it to do too much..the have improved them but I can tell you both my 2016 and 2018 both had issues with the screen.
 
One more thing about the extended warranty..don't buy until you original is almost up..and only buy it from the dealership..I dont know of a "good" extended warranty..when you really need it is when you find out how good it is..
