Can anyone tell me what rpm's a 4500 with the 4.10 gears will run at? Also what kind of mpg you can expect.

I currently have a 2017 3500 with the Aisin transmission and 3.73 gears that I use for my hotshot trucking business. I'm ordering a new truck in the coming weeks and can't decide between a 3500 with the high output and 4.10's or a 4500. I understand the cab and chassis models are detuned but like the bigger brakes, tighter turning radius etc that come with cab and chassis models. My main concerns would be the mpg and overall ride quality. The truck is only used for pulling a 40' trailer over the road.

If you search threads from GSBrockman on here, he can quote you chapter and verse on that setup for hotshot use.

I have an 18 3500 DRW Aisin 4x4 with 4.10 which should be about the same. I run just over 2K at 70mph. With a 4800lb cabover truck camper (about 12' overall height) in the bed, I run around 11 mpg. Lowest I've seen is about 9.5 when fighting a head wind. When towing a 6k trailer behind the rig and climbing into the mountains with lots of 4-6% grades I've seen a low as 9 for the tank but EVIC registered as low as 6 at times.

The 4500 will be about 500-1000lb heavier and slightly taller than the 3500. Tire height is the same at 32" though.

Hope this helps

4.10's with AISIN around 1,750 @ 60 in 6th. Towing a combined 33k i get 9-9.5 AVERAGE hand calc over all conditions. RV is a wide body and 13' 5" high.

You can calculate revs at 60 mph for any combo you like if you know gear ratios and tire revs per mile (634 for a standard Nexen on 3500 dually, 649 for a Conti 225/70R19.5): GEAR ratio x AXLE RATIO x TIRE REVS PER MILE= engine rpm
