Here's a short video of what needs to be done to change the transmission fluid in the 2020-2023 M/Y EcoDiesel RAM 1500 truck.
In the video I explain which fill plug to use, some suggestions, how to make a BIG mess (no, really!), and what to expect in regards to fluid color/composition from a truck that has 52,000+ miles on it. Also, pardon my videography skills in this one, I was a bit frustrated that I was literally covered in transmission fluid.
All parts I used are Mopar parts, that includes the fluid and pan (with the included gaskets, screws, and fill plug). I also show the torque specs, and ALLDATA diy information that I printed out. You can pause the video to read the procedures and study the pictures.
This instruction is only for RAM 1500 DT model years 2020 through 2023 with the ZF 8HP75 on the RAM EcoDiesel 3.0 Turbo Diesel Engine.
Parts:
I hope this helps the new owners, as there are plenty of videos on the older models where you drain the transmission from the right/passenger side. The 2020-2023, the DPF is way too close to the fill plug as shown in the video. The correct fill plug on the EcoDiesel 2020-2023 is on the driver's side, which gives ample room to work.
I did find that getting the fluid back in is quite the process go slow, or make the little adapter like I did out of the old fill plug. But be warned -- check it every so often so you don't waste fluid like I did!
Enjoy!
