My 22 owners manual states : If using your vehicle for police, taxi, fleet, off-road or frequent trailer towing change the axle fluid, 18 months or 22,500 miles, that's short compared to my 06, so my question is what is the service interval if your not towing frequently?
Your 06 had a 15K mile interval on diff fluid for the same conditions.
If you’re not towing frequently I’d dump the OE fluid around 20K miles and then every 40-50K with a good fluid like Amsoil Severe Gear. You could stretch it to 100K miles with no towing, like I do in our 03 4Runner.
Don't recall ever looking at the server interval schedule on my 06 as it seldom saw such but did like it also listed non server intervals where the 22 does not, so it looks like I'll plan to change it out in a few month as its at 11K now, I was just surprised to not see a non server schedule for any maintenance service...
Also, axel is a figure skating move and axle is the component under your truck.
My 15’s rear fluid was bad at about 22k towing heavy. I should have changed mine early like usual but conditions interfered. Taking off on a turn loaded it felt like I was in 4wd on dry pavement. Changed to
75-110 AMZ/OIL SevereGear. Blackstone said the OE fluid was SMOKED!!!
