I ordered a New 5500 4x4 diesel Chassis Cab last fall. Got caught up in the 2025 new model chaos, and order was not confirmed until pricing in December.
Now I've gotten a message that Ram may not build my truck at all this year, reasoning that they are not taking any more orders.
I asked why my order hasn't already been processed since I ordered a truck last October? Dealer's answer is that since I requested silver paint the order has been held back until they get enough silver orders.
Dealer says he has no control over the order.
I have the overwhelming urge to go buy a Ford.
Anyone have any thoughts or knowledge? Is there anyone at Ram to contact ?

The Ram '25 model year rollout has been horrible, paint colors at the top of the list. Oil and fuel filters still not available, crazy stupid.

A large dealer said this on 4-11-25.

FOUR colors open for 2025 HDs :)

BLACK
WHITE
GRANITE
FORGED BLUE METALLIC

I'm also reading reports of rogue codes (such as the P0315 code) popping up and other issues. Apparently there is a fix that is coming down the line for it.

Add the CCV filter also not available (hopefully no one needs one of those till they hit their 67k!).

The only color I'd go with is white. I wish they had a bright silver metallic again, versus the granite.

hate to say it but if I really needed the truck I would also go buy a Ford..or at least see if they had something I could use..

Lot's of people said the 2nd gen trucks made in Mexico were superior, I have to disagree as I have owned two US 12 Valves that now have 500k on them and my current 01 Sport that's Mex with 170k. I have owned a 11 DRW basically same truck as current 15 DRW both of course Mex. They both have been good. BUT I sure as HE!! want my money staying right here as much as possible, always have and always will.

Means the quality will plummet, sorry to say that but the MX trucks have the better build quality over the US labor union made ones.
Maybe the new work force will work better then in the past...

OZZY when I bought my 98 12V with 50k I thought for sure the truck would have fallen apart around the engine. Simply the best ruck I have ever owned, my son has it in TX since 350k. The 01 MEX has been great also except for the clear coat falling off.

Too those who want the trucks made back in the US just be awear that the AC cooling will suck due to the fact they cant use 134a refrigerant in the US the can only use eco 1234yf junk like they use in the 1500, I've read the many complaints about poor AC cooling since they went to 1234y....

That and the fact that the 1234y is stupid expensive.

I took advantage of getting my home A/C updated two years ago before the new standards went into place. Even the HVAC guys were like, you'd use double the electricity to cool your house all in the name of "cleaner" refrigerant.

I have the 1234y in my EcoDiesel, and I measured my A/C and it's 43F when 72F outside using a tested probe thermometer. When it is 90F outside, the lowest I could get was 50F. Compared to 46F out of the vents of 134a in the 2020 Cummins work truck. Both trucks are black paint.

FYI, you can replace the 1234yf with 134a. All manuals(joke) say not to do it, but I have done the swap, a few months ago, in another vehicle I own. It works be at. The adapters to do it are only around $10. My a/c blows just as cold with the 134a in it, and I've had zero issues.

A high school buddy also charged a work 1500 with R134. He purchased a gauge set at Harbor Freight that had all the adapters. He said he can't tell any difference in cooling.
