$21,000 Diesel Engine Option??

I think that the Volkswagen Touareg is neat with it's adjustable ground clearance and short approach angle. Very rough country capable little wagon I thought when I first saw it. THEN they announced a V10 TDI option with some 300 hp and over 500 ft. lbs torque - I've been obsessed and stripped down my '01 HO 6sp. as a possible trade.



But..... the V6 Tour Egg (what we call it) is coming out at about $33,000 and the same car with the diesel is something around $54,000!



I'd love to try that motor but I just can't quite come to grips with the price differential. The silly people at VW shoulda' made the V6 version $44,000 - a $10,000 diesel option would be easier to take.

i was just at the toronto autoshow today and they had a tdi touregg there listing at nearly $100,000 CDN. that's nuts.



and they didn't even have a 04. 5 cummins there [they had 3 '04 cummins, and 2 were 6 speeds ]



but it's a nice little outing when you are going on GM's dollar eh... 2 free tix, free parking, free breakfast [and now 2 extra tickets cause they didn't check them, and stamped my hand without ripping the stub]
