JSimpson,

Sorry for the very late reply; yeah that is with the 555. The 600 is somewhat worse, but I figure we'd check it after break-in.

John K5AW0,

I hear what you're saying and you need to take alot of posts regarding mileage with a grain of salt. Nonetheless, my 8338 lb dually 4x4 got 20. 2 mpg (hand calculated) average on a 300mi trip. I purposely kept the rpm's at optimum and drove as though I had an egg under my foot. I normally average far, far less!

Mpg

I have averaged 18. 9-19. 8 mpg the last 3 tanks. This is with about

2/3 highway at 70-75mph. My overhead usually reads 1-2 mpg off either

on high side or low side. I could not be happier when seeing a truck

with this much power, an auto, and weighing as much as it does get better milage than my bro-in-laws gutless ford ranger. :D

Mixed opinion on 600 economy...

Me and my dad both just bought 600's, he has a 6 speed I got the 48re. .

He took his on a 300 mile ride w/ 50 miles on the clock and netted 18. 5 mpg on a fresh motor.

I have 2500 miles on mine, and I drive like an as* sometimes and I still get an average of 16 mpg on a full tank. .

Ive seen a lot of people complaining about the 3rd gens mpg, Im not complaining because I knoe if kept it slower on the way to work or stayed out of the (Straight Piped) throttle around town I would do even better.

I was getting 21-22 on the highway w/ my 02 w/ EZ/RV/intake/exhaust combo, so I plan on a similar setup for the new one.

That ain't to bad. I just got back from Blue ridge parkway pullin a 40' Teton triple slide, and I averaged 39mpg, really, this ain't no *****. I drive like a little O man and I can't get better than 16. 5, and I'm a flatlander for christ sake!

i believe you! i just drove to mexico to on an unsuccessful quest to find intelligent life there and got 200 mpg loaded with 10,000 lbs. of illegals on the way back and all had never been on welfare and had car insurance.

I am from Pittsburgh and drove my 2004. 5 drw quad 3500 to Elkhart, In to pick up my new 34' race car trailer on Tuesday night and we returned on Wednesday. This thing only had about 1100 miles on it when I started. I got 16. 5 on the way out ( the overhead gizmo said 12. 2). On the way back pulling the trailer it was more like 10 MPh. I got this new trailer 1' taller than stock so I am pushing a lot of air. The truck handled great and it pulled with no effort.

Happy Motoring from the Burgh,

Clarkbar
