Hi,

I need to know the differences and relative advantages of two bosch pump serial numbers and what truck(s) had each originally.

The numbers are both CPL 2175 with serial numbers 0402736913 and 0402736887.

Does anyone know them well enough for this? Is one a CA only?

I've seen what Fritz's site lists but he doesn't break these down to which trucks had them.

I'm thinking to buy one or the other to have modified.

The 0 402 numbers are the Bosch part numbers for the early (1996) and later (1997-8) 215 hp pumps. Same parts are used in both, no advantage to one over the other. 913 is the newer one.

Thanks,

And the later ones are notated in the Fritz site as being OBD-II capable. Does that have any effect on what can be done with them?

I've got a line on a couple of pumps and am considering buying one of them to send to Piers to make my '98 a smooth running reliable approx. 400 hp street engine.

KRS,

You shouldn't need to buy another pump and send it to Piers for modification to get 400 hp. Not throwing rocks at Piers here. He does A-1 work. But not necessary. See my signature for what I've done and I'm well over 400hp. Very nice on the street.

If you really would like to have your pump checked out, you can get it bench tested and calibrated at Wentland Diesel in Milton-Freewater, OR, just north of Pendleton. Richard there does good work and you can watch!

Hi Jay,

Yeah, I should have said "Piers or someone". I can get the HP myself with parts available but I'd like to start with a pump that's all balanced for output and working smoothly through the rpm range. One that's checked out for wear and fixed if necessary.

I just got a pump # 0 402 736 907.

It has no holes on the side for the throttle assembly. Are the manual trucks or later trucks not set up this way? Or is mine off a different app?

So I'll have to drill and tap the case or swap cases with the old one. How much trouble is that? Is it pump shop only--or can I manage with a few special tools and a few bashed knuckles?

After some review at Dave's--are 887 and 913 the ONLY Dodge 215 apps?

Pump is reported to be off a Freightliner and 235hp.

Pump flow reported to be 64cc stock and tested up to 124cc with plate slid. Claims 235hp engine.

Fritz lists a 230/650 app. Mebbe that's it.

Where do I find out more 'bout flow numbers? 124x6 is 744cc--that sounds like a bunch. ;) :D

913 Pumps are supposed to the cats meow as far as P- pumps go. Or so I hear. I wouldn't attempt a case swap. There are too many little variables between pump models and alot of specialty tools and training that need to be had first.

That sounds like my pump... . not for the faint at heart!
