I just finished putting 22. 5" semi rims on my truck. I am wondering if there is any way I can either figure out how much off my speedo is or recalibrate it? If so how or where can I get this done?

I've got 20" rims with about a 35" tire and I know my speedos off and have found out that if my speedo is reading 60mph I'm really running 66mph. Same thing at all the other speeds. At 10mph I'm running 11mph, 40 mph I'm running 44, and 90mph is 99 or 100. I found this out both on the dyno and running at the track. My overall tire height is 35. 14". Hope this helps.

I can't figure out how to make the pics smaller so they can fit on the server. But, if anyone is intrested in seeing the pics. Just PM me and give me your e-mail and I will send you some pics.

You need to find out how many revolutions (or rotations) your tires make per mile. THe tire manufacturer will know.

IE: My BFG 315's are 34. 5" tall and rotate 601 times per mile.

I am curious what the cost factor is for you. / I want to go to at least 19. 5's when my BFG's wear out... but right now they're big $$ until we find another source for less. But I see a lot of 22. 5's around town so just getting the bolt pattern machined shouldn;t be hard.

Ok... I PM'd you too so you may see me as a pest but here goes:

How much$$

Where'd you get them?

How did you get the correct bolt pattern?

What size and brand tire are you running?

Looks good. Ever since I put 19. 5's on mine I've been toying with the idea of 22. 5's.

XJSuperman, if you want 19. 5" singles, Rickson has them with the proper bolt pattern. www.ricksontruck.com

If you want something different, check out www.chromewheel.com and look at putting floats all the way around. They use adaptors to change to the large 10 lug bolt pattern. They need quite a bit of lift to clear 'em, though

I know of Ricksons wheels... I just made a post trying to find other options for us SRW or DRW... the link you posted for the "chromewheel.com" was very interesting. Set of the adapters and then you would have a huge selection of wheels. 19. 5" thru 24. 5".

Rickson still doesn't have the aluminum 19. 5's for third gens available. I was told they probably never will. I wait for Alcoa becasue I really don't like the idea of adapters.

I think the adapters wouldn;t be a problem. SO LONG AS they don't increase the track width by much thus creating extra leverage on the hub/wheel mount surfaces. an extra 1" per side (I'm guessing on the adapter width) wouldn't hurt a thing.

I ran adaptors on my 98 with 19. 5's for over 3 years and 110,000 miles and never had front end issues. Now I have them on my 04. The adaptors do add to the track width, but the 19. 5's have more offset than the stock wheels. My front wheels don't stick out anymore than stock. My back wheels stick out a little (1"-1. 5") but the wheels are 7. 5" wide and have 3" between them.

Actually, the adapters are just flat and bolt on to the current 8 lug pattern. Then there is about an extra 2-3" of material with the hub centric piece for mounting the rim and the 10 bolt bolt pattern. Although, the rims are quite a bit thicker. I don't think it increases the track width much. The only drawbacks so far is stopping has increased a little and I have lost a little bit on the bottom end. I would not recommend the conversion without at least 4. 11's. The 22. 5's can be done with only a leveling kit. The 24. 5 have to have at least 8" of lift , because they do not make low profile tires for 24. 5" rims. I am running 255x70x22. 5 Sumitomo 209's. Most trucks I have seen are running some sort of hwy rib. I spend a little to much time in the deer woods so, I opted for a more lug type pattern. Although they are considered "drive axle" tires I have experienced no problems yet and have driven threw every weather condition imaginable except snow. I do recommend that when balancing the tires you both led balance them and powder balance for a perfectly smooth ride. I will be putting the powder in this weekend. I must say the experience I had with chromewheel.com was not the most pleasant. I took me 2 months and a set of 19. 5" rims that I had to send back a month wait for adapters. It was just a real hassle! I got my tires in Vero Beach Fl. from a local tire dealer St. Lucie Battery and Tire. When I got there I met the owner and talked with him and he asked what I payed. When I told him, he told me that he would of given me the same deal but with 4 brand new rims (rather than the refurbished ones that you get from chrome wheel. Also, if I had got the rims and tires at the same time that he would of given a larger discount on the tires which are almost 2k alone. The hole conversion is gonna cost right about 4. 5-5k including the lift and everything. They are great over there! Just ask for Artie Bellingham 772-461-1746. They got it all. Well I hope all this helps! Anyone got an answer about the speedo recalibration??

I haven't had any experience with chromewheel other than trying to get questions answered with no response. I bought my 19. 5's from Dual Designs back when they first came out with the kit. They had 6 new wheels, 6 tires, 4 adaptors, and all the hardware, mounted and balanced and shipped to my door for around 5k. I sold those when I sold my 98, but bought the ones I have now used from a friend who bought his around the same time I bought my originals. He only had about 30k on them. The wheels still look new.
