Have tried the search with no results. Can someone enlighten me on the . 22 method of wastegate restriction for the HY-35?

Thanks,

Kent

The 22 method is for the wastegate with a solid metal tube. You take the acumulator lose and put a 22 shell caseing in the tube to block it off. A short works best.

LOL!

Sorry if I ruined your fun - I didn't realize you lived close enough to sit back and wait for the fireworks show!:D

boy is he ever right, VERY easy off.....

CCahill is very right, so easy off, it does it by it's self. I tried it 3 times, and it came off every time on the test drive, and I had those puppies on there too.

Andrew... .

Sorry to hear you had bad luck..... All I can say is, I 've had mine on for about 25K miles, and it's still on as we speak.

I,ve pulled it off before I take it in for work and it takes me longer to slide under the truck, than it does to take off the turnbuckle... .

Works for me,

Colin

Thats way too hard........

Her's a combo method of spring and turnbuckle. It keeps it from being entirely shut off yet I can still max the boost at 35#. Easy off and a little PITA to get on but I haven't had a problem of it coming off yet.

turnbuckle

garrett, do you remember the specs on the spring you used? may not be important? i like the idea of not completely disabling the wastegate on my little hy... ...

Home depot has them....

They go under the name of Handyman. It ½" Diameter and ¾" long. I think it's an 1½" S hook and the smallest turnbuckle they make. I bent the spring hook backwards on the one side to make it fit on the actuator arm better. Study the pic and its not that hard. Kind of loose going on and wants to fall off till you snug it up.

And it does make a difference. After a dealer trip I reinstalled it and went for a run. Truck seemed weak and could only make 25# of boost. Tightened it a little more and back to normal. I don't know about just an EZ but with the injectors it needs more air to appreciate the extra fuel.

spring

k hodges, i'll answer... ... . don't do to a stock truck. you'll set off over boost codes, and the ECM will defuel the truck. the mod is for folks running fueling/boost boxes, to get more boost. this helps burn the extra fuel, and lower EGT's. most boxes have a "boost fooler" to trick the ECM. i was asking for future reference. i think a Comp or Raptor is in my truck's future.....

garrett, thanx. i've already got an assortment of springs in the shop. waiting to save the bombing $$ for the box... ...
