Change the fuel filter, if you haven't already. Some people believe frequent changes contribute to longer lift pump life. I recently switched to 10k changes instead of 15k changes for that reason, and because it's easier to remember. Dodge gets about $45 for the part; they are <$15 from Geno's, or your local Cummins or Fleetguard supplier. Often local distributors don't know the right part number; my 2001 uses the FS19579 (Cummins Part No 3945213). This is the top of the line StrataPore - don't let them drag you into one of those "this fits too and is just as good" type conversations. Difficulty of the change would be on a par with changing one spark plug on a gasser. In other words, do it yourself, just be careful not to cross-thread the lid. Slap in a new air filter while you're under the hood.
