I need some help guys. my truck when i roll into it hard it spools up hits 20psi at about 2300 rpm and falls right on its face to about 800rpm and it WILL NOT pull out of it till you take your foot off the pedal. but if you lightly roll into it you can go through the rpm range. any ideas?

Thanks

The maximum boost range for your truck is 17. 7 psi to 18. 2 psi, the computer is probably defueling, also could be restricted fuel filter. If you are actually getting 20# of boost then that is probably the problem. bg

I had the same problem it did it for a while then started throwing codes when I matted the pedal. Hopefully it is not the same for you but it was my VP44.

By chance could one of my boost fooler's have gone bad? i have stacked boxes. i know in the back of my head that it's the VP but i want to rule out everything else befor i spend a bundle. Thanks for the ideas guys keep them coming.

It could be a boost module (EZ) or possibly a MAP sensor. I am on my third EZ because of this.

At the dyno day Spicy did do a VP swap. maybe he still has that one around?

thats his back up and has miles on it. if i have to get a pump im getting a new one. it could be my EZ i bought it used and its was new in 99'

Well, if you are unsure if it is the VP still, you could drop in his VP, if your problem goes away, then you know forsure what's the issue and get your new one. It's only a matter of time invested, not possible money lost + time if it's not hte problem...

Unless your goal is for a modified VP at some point anyways, then this is a moot point and an excuse to justify money spending for toys. :)
