Gents,

I sold my 04. 5 and went back to a 02/HO. 4wd I have replaced all fluids with royal-purple. A silverline turbo back 4 inch. AFE coming soom and a BD x-monitor. The 6-speed is knew to me, it seems touchy, it was alot better once I replaced the fluid but still likes to make noise going in to reverse. on take off in 2nd gear it seems to fall on its face, it could be that Im still used to the last truck with a TST on it. so with all that said, I would like to know what solid good bombs that are good with the HO.

1, nozzles or injectors what type. (around 100 hP)

2. fuel system /upgrade with 2005 intank system. good bad?

3. clutch SB or others should I replace it all or just the clutch sinch flywheel is 13".

4. with injectors and edge Ez (fuel econ good or bad)

long term goal 450-500 hp. right now mild with upgrade to clutch

sorry for the long post. thanks for the help.

what part of Oregon, Im from oregon will be moving back to Roseburg in 6 months when my early retirement comes from the Marine Corps. can you tell me about fuel econ, and egt's on your truck

I live up in Sherwood, retired in 95 from the good old USMC after 21. 5 years. Sometimes I wish I was still in.

I can get 23. 8 if I drive with a light foot. Most of the time I average 19. 5 to 21 mpg. EGT's run anywhere from 500 up to 900 depending on how I am configured. Cruising empty I will be in the 500 to 700 range. Loaded will be 600 to 800 on the flats and 900 to 1100 on the hills. With 23,000 lbs CGVW I get 15. 5 mpg. That is running from Sherwood, to Salem up over Santiam Pass to Bend, Oregon and 30 miles beyond over Horse Ridge to a ranch of a friend and back which is a 400 mile tripe.

Well I like my set up. Clutch wise you just have to resurface your flywheel. As far as the going into reverse, what do you mean by noise? Is it just hard to get into reverse? If so just let the clutch out a tad and it will drop right into gear. The in tank pump deal, in my opinion, sucks... ... ... I am not going to even elabarate it. Gauges first on your truck before anything else... ... welcome back to the VP blues.

Hey where can I get a catcher? And what kind of power can be made with a 99' 24 valve?

Thanks, Travis

No more catchers, but now there is a better alternative - the Smarty. Send Bob Wagner a PM.

thanks

Well I do have a X-monitor that the truck had but yes I will get boost and egt not sure what type of fuel pressure gauge yet, fuel system to many to conflict and think about. but the Reverse gear will at times my a grind/chirp going into gear or be sticky and not go in I usually cycle the shifter through the gears and ususally goes in Reverse. I just dont know why its grinding at times going in.

I will go with injectors just waiting for a good deal$ thanks for the input

Just nudge the shifter against the 1st or 2nd gear syncro before you go into reverse. If you do, you shouldn't get any grinding at all.

I'm a Royal Purple fan, but some individuals here have reported their lube is a little light on viscosity for the NV5600 - many of them have gone to Redline MTL. Just something to file away for future reference.

Another oil for the transmission that came out last year was Amsoil MTF synthetic, had red line in mine, and decided to try the Amsoil... ... ..... so far I am impressed. As far as a fuel pressure gauge, you can into my gallery and see mine... ... ... . I kind of like it.

Bend, some of my old stomping grounds! That is real good mileage towing over the mountains! With 5000 less pounds and the slush box I can pull mine down to 9 mpg in the hills out here. I'm waiting for the Smarty too. Otherwise I'd go for a Comp and some sticks.
