O. K. guys I know I'm opening myself up for a good flaming, but..... I was talking to one of our members on the phone a while back, and unless I'm mistaken he told me that the 24V head is a direct bolt on to replace our 12v. I am going to be putting a new head gasket on soon as mine has developed a leak out by #1 cyl. on the ouside of the block. Before I go and search for a 24V head to buy I wanted to tap your brains and make sure the 24V is a direct bolt on. Somewhere I read that the 24ISB has a dual overhead cam... . but this resource wasn't half as reliable as the member who told me it was a direct replacement. I am asking this in the 12V threads because it relates to a convertion from 12V TO 24V... but if this thread has to be moved I'm sorry. The member I talked to also said the 24V head would add about 30 HP by just swapping the head. ANY HELP???????????????Ed3:confused:

Mr. Garwood, I'm not a hot rodder and I'm not sure if the engine will or wont run but here are some things to think about.

1- 12 valve pistons have an off set combustion bowl in the piston. 24 valve injectors wont center the spray pattern in the piston. And would probably melt your pistons.

2- Fuel lines are of a totally different configuration and wont hook up to your p7100 fuel pump ( although I heard a rumor of someone putting a p7100 on a 24 valve)

3- 24 valve engines are not overhead cam configuration

I'm sure there are other issues but they dont come to mind quickly. AJJ

I have looked over a 24 valve head well and it has tiny valves and the the ports aren't an improvement over the 12 valve head. IMO the only thing that would be gained is the central location of the injectors and the flame front created by it.
