I have a friend with a 24 valve with a k and n air filter, straght pipe, and silencer ring removed from the turbo. I have a 12 valve with #6 tst plate, boost elbow, goerend converter,vb work, straght pipe, and k&n air filter. Who has more h. p and torque? What ratings should he have on his 2000 model with six speed? Your answers will help me settle a disagreement with him.

MY 6:
The #6 plate is rated 230hp and 605 tq. I do not belive his truck is a eth? He says he is pushing 300 hp. Just by doing these things to his truck. I don't really care whos is more powerful. I just hate it when people brag about something they don't have.
Are all 6 speeds eth, or can you get a six with the regular power.

Adam: (BigYellowIron)

To give you a "reference" my 96' dynoed
at 224 H. P. /625 Torque on a Mustang Dyno
at "Scheid Diesel" BEFORE they did all
my pump mods and installed the 370's.
That H. P. is at the REAR WHEELS.

At that time I had the #6 TST plate
(250 H. P. /635 Torque) and was running
a "K&N Filter", and a modified auto
transmission (see signature).

If your friend has the 6-speed DEE/ETH
it is "rated" from the factory at 245
H. P. The other models are rated at 235.
If your friend has not added a "fueling
box" I doubt he is much above (maybe
below) the figure I gave you above.
As a general rule you can subtract
about 20% of whatever a "rated flywheel
horespower rating is. " However, some
ratings are higher. With the 20% formula
I would guess that your friend is
probably around 200-215 H. P. This would
be close to what "My 6 Eats V-8's) told
you.

Hope this has helped you some!

For sure.

You can stuff as much air as you want to in a diesel and it won't make much, if ANY more power.

Here is how I break down your friends trucks options (the 24Valve)

K&N Air filter: More Air, More turbo noise, and lower EGT's

Straight Pipe: More noise, and lower EGT's

Silencer ring: More noise

BigYellowIron, YOU have more power modifications, but maybe not more power.
"He" has more noise makers, and a newer truck.

Just My Humble Opinion

BOMBER_101,

Don't forget the big time noise maker of all, the P7100 pump on the 12V. #ad

Big Yellow,

I have a 2000 ETC 6spd just like your friend, and he is NOT,I repeatNOT pushing 300hp at all! Just like any other diesel,he has to add fuel to get more horsepower, which he is not doing. The factory ETC rating is 235hp 460tq,so stock he is at about 210-215hp to the ground. If he doesn't believe me,then just point his truck to your friendly neighborhood dyno.

You win the argument with your #6 plate. The horsepower is basically at the same level as his stock truck, but the plate is rated for far more torque.
