Trent - BINGO! I was referring to SPearson's post where he mentioned "I have to replace the VP44 so I'll have to do the KDP at the same time. " To me it seemed as if he felt he had to remove the t-cover to do the VP.
Funny how things can become confusing. . . . Thanks Trent for clearing that up at least for me. Now I see who (you) it was with the stuck gear. Guess I was lucky when I did my VP to get the gear off with only a bit of resistance.
no "defect", the only real issues happen if the truck is highly modded and then the pressed on cam gear can walk off the cam. as these are helical gears, that changes the timing and can even fall off. For most, it is not an issue. The KDP and case bolts behind the cam gear need to be secured and thats enough.
