Aluminum Blocks and Heads (12V)

Been there, seen them, and they almost handcuff me every time I walk through the tech center in Columbus. The issue they explained was a concern about main cap security and life. I explained about cross bolting and a girdle on the bottom, and still, no luck.

Still begging. Last I heard, some were scrapped. (tears) It was a "secret" Navy project. I never give up.

I know of at least 2 others that independent companies are doing with Cummins engines for High HP military ops.

One in Colorado springs, I am loaning parts to and may get some help when done. Potentially a V12 based on 2 "B" engines on a common block.

Cool stuff.

Tuning a 24V P Pump Engine

Keith is dead on. To get synergy (more than the sum of the parts) one of the tougher combinations to make work is a 24V with a P pump, and then stack twins on it. Today, a common rail, and a VGT will be prove to be the best all-around engine for driveability, and power. For all out killer power, multiple turbos and mechanical pumps will likely rule.

Just gathering the parts, and stacking them together is easy. Now figure out why it builds EGT. Fix that, Now it dogs off the line. Fix that, now the turbo surge monster comes and sleeps with you at night. Fix that. Now the power goes away. Fix that. Now it has a power range narrower than a razor blade. Change again and again and again.

Bottom line? Work with someone to help get the right "package tune-up" right out of the gate, unless you want to spend twice as much money, and get to have a garage of parts that "almost worked. "

Turbo match, cam and fuel curve are critcal on one of these.
