Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 24v Idle Speed

What's the normal idle speed for a 24v? Mine idles at 875rpm. . which seems kinda high. Is that normal??



I've had a few people ask me why my truck idles so high, I never really paid much attention honestly.

According to my recent emissions test, mine idles at 840. I figured 850 looking at the tac.

I wouldn't worry about that considering your oil pressure goes up with your RPM increase thats good for the truck. My brothers truck is the same way about 875 RPM. Thats why they have high idle kits. but no its not exactly normal. I've also noticed an increase in idle when I added my superchips.

mine fluctates a little bit. sometimes by about 100 rpm or so. not up and down. but different startups. sometimes it is at one line, sometimes its at the next one up. havent figured out a pattern yet. but for the most part it stays around 850.

I was wondering since I have the Superchips programmer. When I first got the truck it seemed to idle lower, then I ran the Superchip program and it raised the idle. Even though I put no to the below freezing temps question on the programmer.

Idle speed for the stick = 800 Rpm

Idle speed for the AT = 850 Rpm
