How much difference is there between a 12v and 24v intercooler? I can buy a used 24v intercooler for $150. 00. It is bowed a little in the middle, but it has pressure tested in a tank full of water and there was no bubbles.

According to Al at PDR, it flows 12% more than the 12 valve. You are at the point where you might need another 12%. Beware that with as tight as everything fits in the front, a bow might get you into trouble.

From what I can remember reading it is a little tricky to get it in there. I think it is taller so you will have to work a little bit to get it in there. HolsetHoleshot has installed a 24v intercooler in his rig, maybe he will chime in here.

I got thge 24v intercooler today and got to do some measuring between the 12v and 24v. The 24v intercooler is a 1" taller. Any speacil tips or tricks on the installation process?Oo.

i was looking at this a while back. Not sure about the flow rating though. The 24v is taller, . . but has less tubes in it. The reason the 24v is taller is because the fins are taller. The reason Piers said that the 24v is better is because the coolling is better, i guess because of the fin count or fin height, not because of flow. Actually the slower it flows the cooler the air will be because of more time in the cooler. The main restriction is were the inlet and outlet sweep around the radiator. Piers said an average a 50 degrees difference between the two and u want every little bit u can get. So then i would get the 24v, BUT this is just not the regular 24v u want, ..... u want the one that is NOT painted! i think the 2001 and up. This does make a diiference. I would like to compare a 12v intercooler not painted and a 24v cooler not painted. oh well one of these days when i'm not busy, lol.

the painted doesn't cool as good. just like a painted radiator or engine block won't cool as well. Some guys powder coat their engines and they usually run hotter. the paint closes(covers, etc. ) the pores in the metal and air isn't as effective to cool the fins, tubes, and boost air. it makes a big difference. DC wised up on the intercooler. They didn't paint the aluminum radiator but they painted the intercooler, until 2001 or so.
