Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 24v KDP question

I have have (and fixed) my kdp in my '98 12V'r. A friend recently got an early '99 24 V'r. I've heard that some of the early '99s had the same kdp problem. Can anyone tell us if there is any way to tell if his 24V'r needs this wonderful cure?

No way to tell without pulling the timing cover off. You have two choices, the tab method or the jig method. The jig method does not require removal of the timing cover like the tab method does. I chose the jig method personally... .

Thanks for the reply, I guess the best thing to do is to "jig it". Then if it was a problem it won't be.
