I was curious what the min oil pressure is supposed to be for an 01 24v? My buddy got the Edge Juice with Attitude (I think that's what it's called... has the monitor and the chip).

Anyhow his oil pressure has been reading as low as 18psi on the monitor when it's idling like stopping for a light. Now that's with the guage sitting a little under the 40psi middle line.

Does that sound normal? or should I have a look at the sender? From what I understand, the monitor pulls this info from the PCM?

Also the other question.

After he got this monitor, it was reading 0psi fuel pressure. Now I told him like 4 months ago that it seemed like he had a dead lift pump when he changed the filter and had a hard time to get it to fire back up. Plus the pump never would turn on, but he just put it off and didn't want to listen to me really.

The weird thing is took his old pump and put it on a battery charger and it spun fine. I was under the impression that it would lock up and sieze when it died?

We put a new pump on, one of the $65 campaign pumps, and at idle it's showing ~14psi and when at WOT with the chip on #5 he can pull it down to 3-4psi.

That sound normal? I was reading on here fuel pressures of around 20psi and not dipping lower than 10psi at WOT.

I wanted to put the pump by the tank, since I had the parts to do it on my truck and would have used it on his, but he didn't want to bother with it. I'd like to give him the advice I can so he doesn't end up paying big $$$s later down the road.

Hey there,

Yeah somewhere around 20 at idle if hot is normal for the oil pressure. . the gauge on the dash is mainly for reference and not very accurate. ,... 40 to 50 for cruise. .

Good catch on the lift pump. . what happens on thes is there is a plastic drive between the motor and pump... this fails and you get little if no pressure.

The pressure you are seeing now is normal for a single pump. What a lot of us and myself are doing is getting better pumps or stacking a pusher back by the tank... usually a 7# pusher... this will make about 21#... I included a mechanically adjustable regulator after the main pump and return to the inlet to the pusher... this gets me 15# adjusted Idle and no less than 12 WOT towing.

Good luuck keeping after him... Just mention $1200 injection pump and he will listen!

The old pump was spinning fine, so I don't know why it wasn't working. I pulled the top cover off it to check.

I dunno. He said he never heard the pump ever come on... has had the truck for a year, put around 30,000 mile on it.

Doesn't believe me when I say his injection pump probably won't last all that long... and worst with the Edge setup.
