I'm looking at buying a brand new turbo for a 24v off someone on facebook. They say it's angled 90 degrees and will fit up with the intercooler. the turbo has the 24v manifold on it also. First, will the turbo fit? Will it bolt up to the stock manifold on my 12v? I heard some guy telling me about how his buddy put a 24v turbo on his first gen along with 100 horse injectors and it ran like a raped ape. But what all will it take to make this work?

When I had my 93, I put a Banks waste gated 12 housing on it, and it made the truck much more responsive. It did not cost that much and was a bolt on application. Used a tapped bolt in the intake cover to get the boost signal. SnoKing

We need to know what year the 24 valve is. The 98.5 to 2002 years used a HX35 turbo. Those are close to bolt on. If The turbo is off a 2003 and newer then it gets a little harder to mount up.

Not completely true. The 2001 and 2002 auto's have the smaller quicker spooling HY35. I upgraded to a PRD35-12W that spooled as quick and moved move air. SnoKing

Yes. Call them, they will give you all the details and help you pick the right one for your application. SnoKing

I would also point out buying ANY turbo that is not from a supplier or MFG, be sure to find out the specs. You may find it is too large a turbo, or it could be a Chinese nock off of a good turbo. Those will not last in performance use never mind stock use.

In other words as there will be no warranty or exchange, be sure you know what you're getting. Just cause it is a "
good deal" and they claim it to be something, check for yourself. Shiny new looking turbos dont mean anything....

My brother put a turbo that came off year 2000 on a 96 12valve in 05 and its still on it working fine

I second what Snoking said. Contact Gillett Diesel, they are good people to work with. They will help you get the best results and not stick it to you price wise.
