Has anyone ever had to have their valves adjusted? I took my 98.5 to my mechanic @100k or 125k (can't remember) for the customary valve adjustment and at the time they checked them they needed no adjustment. When, if ever, do they need to be adjusted? I'm @167k now. I kinda got use to driving my quiet 04.5 and now my 98.5 sounds even louder. I am not experiencing any power issues.

I checked mine at 20k when I did an injector swap, and they were all in "spec", but varied all over the acceptable range, so I reset the intakes/exhausts to be the same, biased slightly towards the tight side for each. I don't have a lot of miles on mine, but almost everything I read says they shouldn't need adjustment too often.Oo.

I believe it is good practice to check them every 100k miles. If it's been a while since I checked them and I have the valve cover off for any reason I will take the extra few minutes to check them. My former 00 had almost 400k on it when I sold it and each time I checked the valves were always within specs

Just did mine today (201,000 miles) except for one they were all a little tight so I went ahead and adjusted all to spec. Used the alternator nut to turn the fuel pump mark to TDC and then BDC. Except for getting the valve cover off/on and getting to #6 it was easy.
