Could someone explain to me how a free flowing synthetic, which is always blamed to leak out places where a dino oil won't, not flow past these tight valve seals and leave the valves dry?:confused: :confused: :confused: :confused:

Seems like it would be just the opposite? Also sounds like you would want to run a lighter weight oil versus the 15w40?
 
Viscosity does not equal lubricity does not equal film retention does not equal particulate suspension etc. Wanna find a leak on a motor? Fill it with brake fluid. Wouldn't run long tho. Lighter viscosity may help the guide thing, but the rods and mains would be ****** pretty quick. Heavier the load, thicker the film requirement, not to mention taking late model and Tier II emission motors and filling them with not quite up to par ash, acid, and particulate requirements, especially for YOUR motor, not the generic (unmodified) model... T
 
Dry valve guides with synthetic oil? Yeah, right. It is more common to see the opposite problem. Synthetic flow past valve seals BETTER than conventional oil which leads to oil consumption and a puff of smoke at startup in gassers with well worn engines.



Cummins says you can use synthetics after a suitable break in period and lots of people do this without a problem. PB Supreme is a Group III "synthetic" not a blend. Why is it that guys working in Cummins shops are all geniuses? I’ve gotten some really wacko oil advice at Cummins West. How about “you can go 25k miles easily in a Dodge with PB 2000". Don’t believe anything they tell you unless it is backed up by a service bulletin.
